Gastanofrizzi's Retrofit Revamp (Part 1: Vehicles)

image

This might take a little to get your head around  The idea is to also extend this to Infantry weapons aswell. Part 1: Vehicles, Part 2: Infantry Weapons

Currently in Enlisted, there are many versions of the same tank/plane, with very minor differences/upgrades over their predecessor. In the interests of still having all these historic and interesting models, but also unclogging the research tree and making room for more models, @gastanofrizzi has suggested an interesting alternative.

This is the vision of @gastanofrizzi. Presentation assistance by @Myrm1don .

Instead of Unlocking the same vehicle/plane multiple times in the research tree (potentially accross different squads/crews), instead only the base Version of each vehicle, and Squads will be in the Research tree. Squads will now come with a “Crew Certification” which will determine what vehicles they can operate. All Vehicles will now have a place in the Shop where you can buy them at will, much like weapons . (Providing you have unlocked them)

IMPORTANT NOTE ON GRIND: This doesnt mean that it removes the grind however, its just moving the grind from the Research Tree, and allocating it to leveling up a squad instead (which will have a much higher max level to accomodate all the points needed to unlock every Vehicle). It also allows you a bit more freedom to research what you want first, Providing you have unlocked the Base model in the Tech tree)

To prevent cycling Powerful Heavy tanks or Heavy CAS as you unlock them (for example 3x Tiger 2/IS 2 or 3x Ju188s/P-47s) the following Certificates are available to each squad Type (Including Legacy Squads). A certificate is just a passive attribute assigned to squads that determines what vehicles are available to them:

Certificates By Squad type:

Tanker Squads

Tanker I Squad - Light tanks, Medium Tanks, Tank Destroyers
image

Tanker II Squad - Light Tanks, Medium Tanks, Tank Destroyers
image

Tanker III Squad - Light tanks, Medium Tanks, Tank Destroyers, Heavy Tanks
image

Fighter Pilot Squads

Fighter I, II and III Squad - All FIghter Aircraft
image

Attacker Pilot Squads

Attacker I Squad - Light CAS, Medium CAS
image

Attacker II Squad - Light CAS, Medium CAS
image

Attacker III Squad - Light CAS, Medium CAS, Heavy CAS
image

*Note this does not mean you cannot put “Tanker 3 Soldiers” in a Tanker 1 “Squad”, It just prevents puting another Tiger 2H in a tanker 1 and 2 squad.

So for example, Instead of having to unlock and buy ALL 5 of the Panzer III models in the research tree , you would only have to unlock and buy the base model (Panzer III B). All crews with Medium tank Certification can now equip and use the Panzer IIIB.

Similarily, Instead of having to unlock 8 BF 109s, You would only have to unlock the base version (Which is currently 109 E7/U2)

Should you wish to unlock the various other models and upgrades, you must play and level up the Squad itself (Any squad with the right Certification). Models will now be unlocked by spending squad points in the corresponding tree.

You can choose which model to put your squad point in. The vehicle will unlock for purchase after the *first point spent on it. (Up for change)

(NOTE: You must have a squad with the appropriate certification, and the base model unlocked in the Research Tree)

For example:

Once you have some unlocks, It will all be managed via your squad customisation

image

Via the Customisation menu, You can swap between the variants of the “Base Model” tank you have equipped. Obviously , this can change the BR, dependant on which Model you use.

This also maintains your crew, your Camo, decals and decorators inventory all on one squad!!!

Dynamic Appearance for different Campagins is also selected here. (THIS ONLY APPLIES FOR VEHICLE CAMOFLAGE/DECALS/DECORATORS, NOT CHANGING MODEL. It would be very cool to dynamically change model aswell, but that might make it super difficult for the Devs :stuck_out_tongue:)

image

Imagine, as a Crew gets more Experience, they earn the right to the nations more powerful and upgraded models. This will also tie into the future possibility of Veteran or ACE crews, as you will be able to maintain the same crew.

What is the point, and advantages of this system?

The Main purpose is to Removing clutter and streamlining Vehicle Progression. It allows the player to advance in the Area they would like, and allows the player to avoid having to buy many versions of the same vehicles they do not want.

Going forward, It also makes it easy to keep adding many more Models for already existing vehicles to the game, without affecting players progression in the research tree.

Tanks

  • USA relocates around 10 vehicles variants from the Research Tree
  • Germany relocates around 13 vehicle variants from the Research Tree
  • Soviets relocates around 8 Vehicle variants from the Research Tree

Planes

  • USA relocates around 5 variants.
  • Germany relocates around 13 variants
  • Soviets relocates around 8 variants

Currently you have to buy everything before you can advance. This systems allows you to bypass “some” that are of the same model lines that perhaps you have no interest in, saving that precious silver.

Other Advantages:

  • Many models can be added of all tanks/planes without interfering with your Tech Tree Progression
  • Maintaining the XP and veterancy of a Squad, crew
  • Player has more say in where their silver is invested
  • All Vehilce Camoflages will be tied to the squad and not the individual vehicle. (can be used by any vehicle the squad uses). This gives the player more freedom with his customisations.

(eventually it would be nice to be able to swap between these models “in game” based on situation)

It can be a bit overwhelming to understand what is happening here, But I think it is an interesting Idea with some cool features and deserved to be thrown out there. Any questions, suggestions or further improvements, I am sure @gastanofrizzi will be eager to indulge!

Could this be applied to Infantry squads, rifles, SMGs, MGs, etc?

Its funny you say that, Because that was @gastanofrizzi intention was to have that be a part of it.

I Just thought it best to start with just the vehicles (because they were easier) first to try and not over complicate the presentation (because Im lazy and would have taken alot more to put together haha).

But yes. Perhaps I should state that in the Post. Part 1

Bad idea.
The base variant may be terrible and I don’t want to be forced to use the terrible tank to grind.

You wouldnt have to.

Tanker 1 for example can use any light, medium or tank Destroyer. You can level it up using any of those.

Dont like the panzer IIIB? Unlock the panzer IVE or the puma in the research tree and use that to level up the squad instead (or any other base model that fits the squads certification).

You choose where your squads upgrade points go. If you have an unlock point, you could go straight to the panzer 3N, or the F2 or whatever. So long as you have the base model of whatever you want unlocked in the research tree

This way, you would never have to buy or play models you dont like (you wouldnt know as a new player). Save you silver, time, and gives you progression choices

Only good if the next good base model tank is close enough in the tech tree.
It seems like not a major problem for now, but dev will surely add a bunch of new vehicle that don’t have base model in the tech tree to compensate for the decreased grind.

Well all the base models will be right next to each other. As soon as you get just “one” you like, you are set

They will most likely do that anyway. Either way you look at its still of benefit. (Even more so if they add more)

Grouping / linking technically same weapons / vehicles under 1 tab is much needed and reduces the cluster fk of tech tree massively.

Even from “balance” pov currently the Japan is arguably the best faction for newcomers due to TT not being filled with absolute garbage which you have to buy regardless are you going to ever use it or not.

Aka unlocking hei rifle ~9 ? guns before u get it
FG42II ~13 ? guns before you get it
By far more grind & by far more expensive.

Smg tree is even worse, if you ever plan to get stg44.

And really, making technically 2 identical guns mp38 / 40 as invidual unlocks in tree is absolutely tarded.
Same with the various PZIV models & Bf109’s

Mp38
↓
Mp40 as alternative unlock below it.

For gun I was thinking to something like…

(If you grind the squad with the Mp38 once you max star the Mp38 tree, and you have all his upgrades on the gun, you can further upgrade it and evolve it in a mp40, and get something like less dispersion and less recoil/reload)

So in this way we are gonna remove some of the similar gun who are just improvements and put them as final upgrades step of the base model

  • Beretta m38 20 round in a Beretta m38 40 round
  • Mp38 evolve in a mp40
  • Pps42 evolve in a pps43
  • Ppsh41 box evolve in a PPSH41 drum
  • Ppd34 in a ppd38

And so be it…

Im all in for anything to reduce the un-necessary clutter in TT.

As said, Mp38 / Mp40 as invidual unlocks in TT makes 0 sense.

Agree and I would add with all those BR changes understand how TT work is becoming hard…

It’s unclear why he couldn’t post the topic himself, but okay. In any case, I’m in favor of balancing the interface and game in general, this really looks cool and interesting. But this suggestion also looks like one that won’t go through the greed detector, hope that’s i am wrong.

Essentially. It was necessary to clarify that a new tank would open for x>1 squad points, and improvements would still cost one. Otherwise, I’m afraid they might not think it right. However, it is written here, but personally I did notice it only from second look, you need to clarify and give some example.

Language barrier, and post expertise. Gastanofrizzi doesn’t use perfect English yet (thought he improved tremendously during last 3 years) even if he speaks better English than many native English speakers.

As for the post format, @Myrm1don already posted such well constructed comprehensive posts before, he helped tidying it up to make it look good.

Aa. Is there such a problem? Well, okay, I’m not the one who can really judge this xD
I generally thought that Myrmidon would make this topic, and Gastano would just copy and publish it himself. But anyway, what’s the difference.

He had that option, but i guess it was just easier for me to continuously edit the post as needed. The idea is @gastanofrizzi, i just added small things like crew certificates to try and glue it together. And he asked me to post it so

but either way his idea is expressed, so thats the main thing.

Yeah, that’s was I talking about.
