Literally every single German soldier has the gasmask canister in this game.
Maybe we can push for the gas mask to be useful cosmetic because you should not be able to breathe inside of a room with a smoke grenade in it
there is no slandering here.
and no one is disputing that. what i dispute is that soldiers didnt wear them. there is big difference between carry and wear.
ffs you are not reading my argument correctly, or your translator is not translating correctly.
gas masks were not used in combat situations in ww2 (aka wearing them, not carrying them). if you want cosmetic with gas mask bag, then i fully support it. if you want to wear them on face as cosmetic then you should also have penalty cause they were extremely uncomfortable to wear (and one of the reasons why nobody used then unless their life was under threat). they are piece of equipment that affects soldiers performance. same as when you carry heavy MG or flamethrower.
btw documented uses that i have found where gas masks were actually used in ww2:
- ofenrohr
- flamethrowers
- concentration camps
- army training
- civilian gas training exercises (mostly britain idk about other countries)
And the U.S. soldiers on D-Day, who can be seen in the game, also wear these gas mask pouches on their chests.
Soldiers landing on Omaha Beach wore detection armbands because they expected a gas attack by the Germans, a realistic threat in WW2 as well.
There were PPSH’s in Normandy though, Germany had the MP-41(r) variant that used stock 9 millimeter MP-40 stick mags, so that argument isn’t viable as an example of historical inaccuracy.
And the others?
Couldn’t give a rats ass about the others, just pointing out the first comparison you tried using wasn’t the correct one to use.
why as a cosmetic? they could be used to protect from the gasses of white phosphorus. but either way I still think gas masks would be cool.
The Russians could get the SHM 1, SHM 41 or BN T4. the US could get the M5 assault gas mask or M3/M4 light weight gas mask. (the US used a lot of different gas masks in ww2.)
BN T4
SHM 1
US M4 light weight gas mask
M5 assault gas mask
certainly. then we can have all of these animations for full protection against WP.
– Do not touch the phosphorus with your bare hands.
– Remove clothing that has phosphorus particles stuck to it as quickly as possible.
– Block the access of oxygen to the damaged areas of the body by moistening the skin and, preferably, removing phosphorus particles under water with tweezers or a non-sharp object.
– Rinse the affected areas of the skin with a solution of baking soda or cold water. Intensive rinsing is the most effective way to remove the substance from the skin.
– Cover burns with wet bandages soaked in saline. You can also submerge the damaged areas in cold water or cover them with a wet cloth.
– The removed phosphorus should be placed in a container with cold water. This will reduce the risk to people around you.
– Avoid using ointments containing fat or oil.
– If you have the opportunity, seek medical help immediately.
