Preface
I propose a new game mode that uses elements loosely based from the April 2020 alpha.
It will follow the core principle of it being an invasion type game mode but with a twist.
- There will be five stages to push through, each with three objectives per stage.
In order to advance a stage as the attackers, there needs to be 2/3 controlled to secure them permanently - then the last objective of the stage will be a tug of war fight to capture.
The benefit to the attackers is it does not matter what objectives are taken. The only requirement is having 2/3rd’s of the area secured.
This can lead to unique situations where it might be wise to take two certain points over another combination which all depends on what the defending side is doing.
This new mode would also be on a set timer of 30 minutes with no way to extend the timer.
- The only way to finish faster than 30 minutes is if the attackers capture all 15 points.
Defending
Since this new mode is on the set timer, the rules of win and defeat would be changed a bit.
For every objective the enemy could not progress through, the game would add a 5% experience boost modifier on TOP of the end of score, a similar effect to what boosters do.
- Example: if the enemy only took 8 points / 15, defenders would get 35% extra exp on top of the win bonus.
- If the enemy took 13 / 15, defenders would get 10% extra exp on top of the win bonus.
- However, if the enemy took all 15, defenders would not get any additional experience.
Attacking
The same will be applied for attacking but only a small tweak different from defending.
- If not captured all 15 points, the full win bonus will not be granted to the player.
- Example: if only 14/15 points, it will be a 75% booster, so even if the attackers did not win completely, they still get rewarded for the progress they DID accomplish though.
There will also be an additional incentive to completing the new mode as fast as one can.
- If completed in under 30 minutes = no change on additional experience.
- Under 20 minutes for all 15 points = 25% additional experience (100% total now).
- Under 10 minutes, if even possible = 50% additional experience (150% total now).
This can be a driving factor to Ambush the enemy, a hefty reward for a grand performance. This is to help the mode in case a match ends up being that short, that total booster add on should balance out any scoreboard to make whatever investment feel as equal to an average Invasion match and not have the same experience rate as what Conquest gives out.
TLDR
Basically, the new mode would be called Ambush.
Ambush would be the game mode in the same format as Invasion, but with the freedom to complete like the berlin conquest map with the five objectives.
Both sides would get rewarded on performance of how much was defended/taken at the end of the match by either all points taken or the 30 minute timer ends.
It promotes both sides to try their best as the more is taken/defended, the more points that side gets.
Each zone has three points and only two need to be taken at once to be permanently removed from the defenders priorities so that all the focus can be on the final point of the stage/zone.
