Game balance: Capture Points In Invasion Should De-Capture Over Time

Disclaimer: I do not seek to make the game/gamemode more difficult for the attackers.

The idea is that when there are no attackers on the capture point, it should de-cap over time, instead of the current mechanic when the captured percentage stays intact even when there are no attackers on the point.

There aren’t many things as frustrating as defending a 99% capped last point for ages, bleeding enemy tickets from 700 to 50, and your team being hit by a lucky bomb (because naturally you are mostly all on the point), then a single attackers runs in for a single second to the capture zone and the game is lost.

This has happened to me countless times when a lucky sprinter or a tanker races off to the newly unlocked objective, captures it for some 85% and then gets killed (when the defenders physically get a chance to reach the objective), but the rest of the game is just fighting for that 15%, and not being able to decrease this percentage even if you’re keeping all enemies away from your point, just waiting for someone to run into the zone for a second or two and win the match for the enemy.

TLDR: maybe the capture time should be increased to balance that, but when defenders are keeping the objective with zero attackers on the point, the capture-meter should slowly go back to zero to avoid lucky attacker’s 1% touchdown captures.

They do - but it is very slow.

The only time you are likely to notice it is when there’s only a small level of capture achieved, and it can get removed.

I think they they slowed down the recapture rate about the same time they decreased the time taken to capture - so 8 July - but I have seen it happen recently still.

Well if they got to 700 tickets on last point its propably more than luck on their side. I think its ok as it is, we can buff defenders in other ways like giving them a minute to prepere after each lost point.

I know this was a while back, but I’ve noticed that if I’m defending - and the zone has been partially capped - that if we have enough people on that zone for a long enough time, the “capture ratio” does in fact diminish over time. So maybe they did implement this suggestion.
