Future maps/campaigns vs RNG

There is, afaik, a widespread consensus that one of the main cons of the great merge is the loss of a guaranteed way to choose the war theatre where you want to play, besides the exception of Japan and the partial choice given by the availability of maps depending on BR brackets.

This is going to become a greater issue the more maps get added to the game (which needs to happen with time). When, say, a shiny new Iwo Jima, Monte Cassino, Greece or whatever gets added, won’t people want to play it inside out? Sure they (we) will. And yet, we will have to pick a lineup and HOPE that a RNG matchmaker sends us there, once in a while.

So, how to pair the effort to keep queues short with a greater degree of map choice for players?

My proposal is to add, along with the basic random matchmaker, a permanent mode where only one campaign is available, rotating every few days.

Example: it’s Tunisia turn? For X days, Tunisia will be the only theatre available in said mode, while being temporarily removed from regular RNG maps pool.

This way, at any given time, players will be able to choose if playing one particular campaign for sure, or any other campaign at random BUT that one.

NOTE: this should supposedly affect theatre selection only. RNG game mode (conquest, invasion etc.) would still apply.

How would that coexist with BR restrictions? Of course, those would still apply. According to the current available campaign, players would be required to select a proper faction, as well as having in their lineup at least one squad fulfilling the minimum required BR, and no squads exceeding the maximum allowed one, in order to be allowed to join.

I think such function would be enjoyed because it would give back more choice in the hands of players. I SUPPOSE it shouldn’t even split the players among queues significantly more than now, but of course that’s just speculation from me, without any data evidence.

Furthermore, it would be a perfect way to introduce new maps/campaigns when they get added.

I’m just adding this onto your idea as well as with your system you can get also get squads from that campaign is a special unlock for playing that particular campaign so for those who have missed some squads because of the merge they can get it from this little system you’re talking about if it were to be implemented.

Not strictly necessary, but it’s a possibility. Long-term grind to unlock no longer available squads or weapons, kinda like squadron vehicles in WT.

true but this would satisfy some of the history nuts who missed out on getting some squads from some campaigns they didn’t play before the merge.

And it would help me if it were to be added so I can get some of the Stalingrad squads that I missed because I didn’t play that campaign and so I can have some medics in my squads

I would really like to see an enduring confrontation mode that could be based on this system

25v25 confrontation games on campaigns that switch every couple of days

This is a good idea, but it would probably require the full extension of a map to be exploited, not just a part like normal matches.

and that’s the best part

Strike that part about removing it from the total pool and you have my attention

I think most people don’t play enlisted because of historical accuracy. Your mod would burn a lot of resources (money and developer time) and probably be dead after a few weeks. If someone wants a historically accurate game, they have multiple options to choose from, why would they play Enlisted? Maybe they could put a poll into the game to see if there is interest in such a thing.
