As someone that uses the field guns and tanks pretty frequently, I keep an eye on the blast radius of both my shells and those from tanks.
The German field gun of Berlin is a 75mm, and given that I usually set up somewhere with a little height, I have considerably less issues with shell bounce.
The 75mm most definitely does not have that kind of blast range. It appears to have 5-7m blast RADIUS (not diameter).
The 76mm from the tanks appear to have about a 6-8m blast radius.
The 85mm from the Soviet tanks appear to have about 7-9m blast radius.
The 88mm from the German tanks appear to have about 8-10m blast radius.
However, the 122mm of the IS-2 appears to have about 15-20m blast radius. (not including targets behind solid terrain at a distance of 15m+).

I repeat for slowpokes, I did 10+m kill radius with M1 just hitting soldier, same for germen 75mm. 8.8 will outperform 122 in anti-infantry terms due to unfixed damage and radius while reloading way faster
No reason to be rude.
When direct hitting soldiers, HE does appear to have a further increased radius, regardless of caliber.
With the 88mm its definitely noticeable.
However, in the case of the 122mm, it will easily wipe out an entire building of troops it would seem.

exactly no till they fix freaking damage by hitting surfaces. walls in Lehrter Banhoff as well as many obstacles in Berlin might just eat shrapnel/explosion so in practice this 122 fart looks not much better than 85
The IS2ās gun may be big and scary but itās really only an infantry menace if you hit a body directly. Someone else here mentioned the broken damage model which is true, itās hit registration for HE is god awful. Canāt tell you how many times Iāve fired into a crowd and got 1-2 kills or none at all because no one was directly hit. Landing a shot even a few feet away from someone will sometimes not even hurt them, itās crazy considering itās the same caliber of the main battery on a destroyer of the age. It might be a bit easier if it could get on high ground to fire down on enemies like I often see German tankers do but it canāt because of itās abysmal gun depression meaning going hull-down on hills isnāt possible.
So for those of you complaining about the 122 HE, itās not that bad. Yea you can get wiped if thereās a direct hit but if it was working as it actually should it would be a lot worse never mind the fact that it takes an eternity to reload.
The Dshk, much like the M2, can be considered an āanti materialā weapon so it should come as no surprise that it can destroy light fortifications. Itās actually a lot worse than the M2 because itās fires much faster while having much less ammo both on the belt and in reserve so it runs out extremely quickly. Not that youāll ever run out of that ammo because you can never get more than a few effective seconds on it without having your commander sniped off of it at which point the loss of your loader almost entirely negates the tank as a combat threat due to only having a 4 man crew and now having an even slower reload as someone else already aptly pointed out.
Itās big, slow, and comically vulnerable to panzerfausts, someone said before that planes and tanks are the only way to kill it, that is hysterically wrong. The whole reason the 1944 had turret cage armor attached is because of the threat the panzerfaust is to it. Even with the 1944 upgrades it can be one tapped from the front by infantry AT weapons. Canāt say that about the tiger ii.
So for those of you complaining about its survivability, climb in your tiger iiH and tell me itās too squishy for you. Unless you drive it headlong into the enemy itās nearly indestructible aside from a well aimed shot to the increasingly shrinking weak spot on turret face. German tanks can absorb two crew losses and maintain the primary war fighting function on the tank (main gun/loading/driving) the IS2 canāt.
Itās a mobile troll cannon that is easily countered, so instead of complaining about every aspect of it learn the lessons it teaches pick up a panzerfaust (or get in a tank and wait for it to shoot) and shoot back. TigerIIH>IS2-1944
