Friendly fire

It would be good if there is friendly fire in the game so your team mates and AI would watch out if you fire with HMG, AT or just normal gun for examble sniper.

No, it would be good if friendly fire was completely removed. Inside houses you are constantly getting blocked by team mates. Just let me shoot through them, they are mostly useless AI anyway.

(I guess you could also enable friendly fire and let me kill them before I start shooting at enemies, not the best solution but that would work too lol)

friendly fire used to be a thing.

but because it’s a free to play, it’s a terrible idea.

trolls, people who knows no better, and too many accident happens.

even now, with all the HUD and triangle on their head, i still getting burned on a regular case, people going in my molotovs…

people shoot me just because i approached their general direction etc.

I can relate to that.

It works in Planetside2 so it’s not impossible.

it doesn’t.

at least, not like it used to.

people that play planetside are only veterans and clans anymore.

( as it goes for enlisted, you cannot balance it out unlike ps2 did. disable weapons? good luck. penalties? yeah sure. )

also, the scale is totally different.

one guy sabotaging the team in ps2 it’s impossible.

in enlisted on the other hand, completely different.

even if he gets booted out, the damage cannot be undone and still cost the overhall game for the whole team.

at best, in ps2, you just made a singular individual angry.

Not one step back you say?

We know it’s you, Stotheg.

Friendly fire can be turned on in custom matches

IMO, bullets should not have friendly fire. It would become far too problematic.

HOWEVER, flames having friendly fire I support (and already exists within the game), and EXPLOSIONS should friendly fire.

Along with this, there needs to be penalties for killing allies.

The reason I bring this up is because the current meta right now of spamming explosives that your team can magically walk right through is very detrimental to balancing.

explosive at least have self-kill, i have killed many soldiers trying to take out a tank and getting to close to the boom

That doesn’t stop the issue of swarms of soldiers magically moving through an artillery zone without being scathed, while their enemy gets obliterated.

Not quite. In PS2 they eventually made it so that after some repeated FF your weapons are locked for a couple of minutes. I’m well aware of that design being part of the rare ones who tried to use a Lasher :poop: (automatic AOE gun for those who don’t know).

It obvious they added a penalty for FF. Otherweise it would be a carnage. And imo they did it very well because it’s annoying.

A griefer may just ignore point penalties or just wait untill the ban ends. But if the game becomes annoying because of FF, his monkey brain gets a signal “this is not fun”. And if it’s not fun, change the behaviour or the game, both good for the overall community.

While Friendly Fire would make the Historically Accurate Crowd happy (After all once fired a round doesn’t matter to what uniform you wear right?), it would be too chaotic to be a main feature for a fast-paced FPS arcade game like Enlisted.

not to mention that some people might grief for fun too

Unfortunately, past history proofs that some people WILL grief for fun.

Then how would you solve the problem if AI or someone is on the way (running in the way) when you are shooting with AT, HMG or other weapons?

It would be good though if the bullets would go through your side of soldiers, but if we want game be realistic then FF would be a thing… If someone is shooting friend just for fun then he would be kicked from the match or some other penalties…

Maybe give them the visual cue of getting shot without them actually taking damage?
Should get the message across pretty well, I think.

And of course, make AI to not stand in your LoS as often. But that’s a whole other issue.
As a temporary fix for now, AI could immediately relocate or go prone after getting shot by a friendly.
