IN BRIEF, introducing this new feature to gameplay can let players know WHO is on fire and try their best to avoid friendly fire or even teamkills when using flame-related weapons (flamethrowers, molotovs, white phosphorus). After that, players can apologize for TKs, which can contribute to the harmony of community. The unique hit marker can have a different style or color to make it distinctive
WHY I MAKE THIS SUGGESTION
In Enlisted, flamethrowers, molotovs, white phosphorus have become the most efficient weapons for attacking, defending or just for killing. If used properly, they can deal tons of damage to enemies and lead your team to victory.
However, they DO have drawbacks: friendly fire and TK is always inevitable:
Though flamethrowers have minimum damage towards teammates, the burning fire left on the ground won’t have that mercy.
Considering the fact that users of flame-related weapons are continuing upraising, a friendly fire reminder is URGENLY needed. It can be a notice, a specific kind of sound feedback or hit markers with unique color.
HOW THIS NEW MACHANISM WORK?
Let’s first take a look at some other FPS shooter games. Almost every of them has a clear reminder of who kills you, that’s also the case in Enlisted. But some of them has additional remind method of friendly fire and TK.
-
In HEROS AND GENERALS, we got a specific kind of sound feedback when you committed TKs. That is quite a huge noise that nobody can ignore that with their volume on.
-
In HELL LET LOOSE, we got a TK punishment, which can prolong your spawn time when you committed TKs.
-
Back to Enlisted. It seems not very reasonable to apply the methods above, since both of them are disturbing here in enlisted: huge noise and prolonged spawn time just for an inadvertent TK, that’s not acceptable.
BUT we have hit markers. A unique hit marker with different color when committing friendly fire will help.
SUMMARY
A friend of mine obtained flamethrower few weeks ago. He was misled by the normal hit marker and committed several TKs. Thankfully, I remind him of the issue and he will pay attention to that in the future.
We definitely need this change to make good use of flame-related weapons, and guide new players to use flamethrowers properly.
Enlisted is still a game in develop. This shouldn’t be a hard task for our developers and I hope dev can put it in to practice AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
btw. I don’t know why I can’t upload images and it keeps sending me “Sorry, you can’t embed media items in a post”. That’s quite confusing.
