True, WT has a different scale and is not a shooter. I mean, even in sim mode it’s rare that someone will “jump” in front of your gun or your shell will bounce and kill friendly. It’s hilarious when it happens but it’s not an issue.
Back in the days, there where many mods for Red Orchestra and for BF. People tried all kind of things, like lower damage on FF, passing bullets with no damage, blocking bullets with no damage. No damage from grenades and etc. both games evolved from that and both went in completely opposite direction. This kind of rules have a very heavy influence on how gameplay goes. Like no FF from grenades typically leads to them being nerfed and having small explosion radius overtime, so that people would use them as “indirect precision” weapon. Same with artillery and etc.
The Enlisted is till trying to figure out what it wants to be, regardless of it want to stay as is or go for partial or full ff it will have to change maps a bit. It’s too much BF like map design wise but uses more “realistic” weapons.
I think the main problem with a lot of it in Enlisted is that communication is a lot to ask for, and with bots everywhere there too much chaos not to frag and shoot friendlies.
Maybe if they want to make it less abusable they could restrict friendly fire to your squad and players you’re grouped with, but it still won’t stop bots from jumping in front of your gun.
No lie, Red Orchestra was my favorite. It’s pretty outdated now but I basically switched straight from there to here. I’ve also been considering how having a squad leader/platoon leader system like they had there could be tried in Enlisted, especially in combination with my above suggestions. Imagine have a PL squad that becomes available to one random player at a time during the battle, who can paint fields of fire, artillery targets and attack routes (friendly or enemy) on the minimap for the whole team to see. Or even send direct orders to the squad leaders. And they get points based on assists for enemies killed in their marked zones and/or friendlies using their attack routes, and troops get points for fighting in the attack routes. It really wouldnt be complicated to implement, and it creates a quick a dynamic way for teams to coordinate attack/defense for a more immersive, organized experience.
Was there ever FF from mortars? From what I noticed enemy team could just mortar spam objective so no one from my team get inside, while their guys just run in and capture it. It’s just ridiculous and unrealistic, real abuse from lack of FF.
It’s a pity the devs removed so much opportunities of friendly fire. WW2 Shooters really need it, to prevent unnecessary spamming. Especially when it comes to the planes, it’s actually complete nonsene that you are able to bomb ongoing fights only harming your opponents…
Yes, it is a nonsense but most fights happen at the distance of grenade throw. So what are you suppose to bomb when FF is on?
The rally point building is reverts back to where it was. So there is nothing left to bomb except some camping tanks.
