I just read a story about Paradox Interactive complaining about forum people being super mean and angry, and toxic towards developers. I agree with this, we players all need to relax, and give developers a pat on the back.
Note to developers tho - don’t pay too much attention to this. People are just sitting home, bored to crap, and lonely lol
And another thing devs - don’t take it personally. We are just playing a video game. For you - it’s a piece of creative art. But for us - it’s another video game, ya know. So we don’t have that deeper connection you do.
Paradox Interactive itself is toxic when it comes to their DLC Policy and publishing game without features that were in previous game. Got 1k hour in HOI IV.
I would really like an anonymous platform to be made where you can send feedback directly to the game developers. That’s all I need, especially at a time when the game requires a lot of testing, configuration and repair. In the forums, everything is drowned mostly in a huge pile of dung, and I guess the game developers are taking more into account the opinion of the streamers in this case.
We used to be toxic, then come OBT the average thread is so dumb that there’s nothing to even argue about and the troll posters can’t top them.
The old bait threads are more sensible than some legitimate suggestions now.
This rather feels more like prediction about axis in D-day invasion that was just fine until OBT came.
Still, I think this community usually does pretty well when it comes to applauding where credit is due, and calling bs in middle of the toxic swamp, where it is well deserved.
In all fairness, Paradox deserves critisism for their policy. They release games near AAA prices that lack features which are fixed with DLCs.
Hears of Iron IV is a prime example of this, while I have nothing against adding country specific progression system, but the fact that they straight out add gameplay features that were supposed to be a part of the game - that is toxic and should not be tolerated.
Want to request production permission to produce machinery made in another country? - Buy Death or Dishonor DLC
Want to change the way battle plans are carried out? - Buy Together for Victory DLC
Want to have more control over Naval units? - Buy Man the Guns DLC
Want to have intel about actions in other countries? - Buy La Restistance DLC
I have nothing against the Idea of supporting game developers, but what Paradox is doing is anti-consumer behavior.
The DLC they release isn’t even good. Most of these new elements are often unpolished, broken and left for the community to fix.
My biggest gripe is that La Resistance was accompanied by a free patch that changed how occupation in the base game was handled so you’re forced to buy the DLC to fix it.
A DLC which itself adds so little content that it’s clear it’s a scam.
It would be like if Darkflow introduced a patch to change ammo capacity so that you only have one mag worth of ammo, and then announced premium-only ammo pouches to return ammo counts to the old amount.
When you are a quick cash grab in the devs eyes, and you practice toxic monetization, how do you think your player base feel like? Ofc people are angry.
Paradox? You mean the people that release a game, then release 15 DLC’s then completely overhaul the game so you can’t actually play it properly without buying the DLC’s because most of the overhaul content is locked behind the DLC?
They are actually the most disgusting people I have seen, they deserve their community being toxic to them. Just like EA community continues to be toxic to EA, they are awful companies.
idk what are you talking about, you should look at russian forum. war between axis and ussr is real for us, it continues in internet(i personally want to shoot all those flamethrowerers and assaulters you know), so we grow up stronger and smarter. all what doesn’t kill you, make you better! let devs grow strong too!
Well, I can disagree on something. For developers, it’s a job for them. For example, I have been playing for three weeks and I will have spent about € 50, and I think I will not be the only one who has made payments. So, apart from the fact that they must like their work, they also get paid thanks to us, the players.
One premium squad 50 bucks to get access to closed beta its bit too much. I really hope people are smarter there is several examples as pre-orders why you should not!
