I’ve just stumbled across this picture folder on my harddrive of an old forum game I’ve made, and decided to dust it off and give it another try.

Let’s design some tanks! Together!
We take a picture of a tank (cross section) and then we “improve” it.
Read the rules before posting! They are a lot more complicated than usual, so read them carefully.
RULES
How to play:
You are provided with a picture of a tank, a name for the tank and a request. Download the picture and modify it according to the request, then re-upload that. Give the tank a new name. Then write a request for the next player. They will do the same thing and so the game goes on until the first poster of the round declares it over (I recommend after about maybe 15 or so posts or when the picture becomes too cluttered).
Request Rules:
Every player requests 1 improvement per post. How you word that request is up to you, but don’t be too specific. Leave the next player some room for interpretation.
This improvement may be a modification of an existing part, or a completely new thing.
Improvements can be sensible, but they don’t have to be. Just don’t go overboard. The next player has to able to implement it somehow.
You are allowed to request improvements on the tank itself, but also on someone elses improvement. But you are not allowed to request the removal of another player’s improvement.
Don’t make any requests concerning the mannequin.
Picture Rules:
You can use any program you like. MS Paint is good enough for the purposes of this game
How you interpret the previous player’s request is up to you. If the request simply says “make the armour thicker”, then it is up to you where you increase the thickness and by how much.
Picture size is 2000x1000 pixels. Don’t resize the picture or any of its contents. Shifting around is ok, if you otherwise don’t have enough space. Picture format is PNG.
Don’t use the brush tool or any other tool, that automatically smoothes edges. It may look better at first, but is a nightmare to use with the fill-in tool. Think of the other players. People with rudimentary image editing skills are supposed to be able to play, too.

You are not limited to drawing. You may use google search and copy-paste whatever you think fits. Just don’t use it, if you can draw the thing yourself. It only needs to be recognizable, not a work of art. We want to avoid clutter, if possible.
Naming Rules:
You add a designation to the existing string of designations. The name may start as “Mk.2 Cavalry Tank”. You can then call it “Mk.2 F1 Cavalry Tank”, or “Mk.2-35 Cavalry Tank”. Next player can call it “Mk.2-35 M Cavalry Tank”. And so on.
Every tank also receives a nickname at the end, in quotation marks. For example “Mk.2-35 M Cavalry Tank “Mustang””. Nicknames are not added one after the other. Your nickname replaces that of the previous player.
Posting Rules:
You are allowed write in this thread without playing the game. Comments are welcome, just no lengthy discussions, please.
Let at least 2 other players make contributions after you, before you continue playing.
This game is a bit more involved and making an entry can take some time. It is possible, that you are hard at work on your picture and another player beats you to the punch, and your work will have been for nothing. I therefore allow reservations. You simply make a post with the content reading “-reserved-” and then you edit that post later with your finished work. No other player is allowed to make a post (unless it’s just a comment) or a reservation of their own until you are finished. But you have to deliver within 1 hour or your reservation is forfeit and may be reported for deletion. Please don’t abuse reservations. Only use them if you really need the time.
Tips:
Don’t overthink it and don’t make too much of an effort on the picture. We are not creating a work of art here.
If you don’t understand a request or can’t implement it in in a satisfactory way, then leave it be. Let another player take care of that request.
Think of your fellow players! Don’t make it too difficult for them. That means not only requests, but also how you edit a picture. Keep in mind, that the next players will have to be able to comfortably edit your work with primitive tools.
Use common sense!
This is an experiment. I might make adjustments to the rules inbetween rounds, so pay attention.
Still scratching your head? Here’s a visual example of how the game could play out in practice:
EXAMPLE ROUND
Player 1:
M2 Canteen
“The Committee requests the addition of a handle for optimal comfort.”
Player 2:
M2 A1 Canteen "Jug"
put a straw through the cap
Player 3:
M2 A1 E4 Canteen "Slurp"
We are losing too many canteens to enemy fire. Give it some armour plating.
Player 1:
M2 A1 E4 C8 Canteen "Juggernaut"
“The Committee is concerned about safety during night missions. That canteen needs some reflective surfaces.”
Player 4:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Canteen "Banshee"
“The Committee demands, that the canteen has a picatinny rail installed for increased tactical options.”
Player 3:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Tac Canteen "Tacticool"
We receive reports of mass desertion due to boredom. Turn that straw into a crazy straw!
Player 5:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Tac XP Canteen "Mega Slurp"
It needs another handle for those extra slippery situations.
Player 6:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Tac XP F4 Canteen "Mega Grip"
compass
Player 2:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Tac XP F4 Mk.8 Canteen "Pathfinder"
It’s time for a pin up.
Player 4:
M2 A1 E4 C8 rev.1 Tac XP F4 Mk.8 mod.H Canteen"Hot Coffee"
This committee member’s chiropractor has a really nice dreamcatcher in his office. Maybe our soldiers would appreciate one as well. I’ve heard they’re actually supposed to work.
Player 1:
Ok, that’s a wrap for now, folks. We’ve ended up with this abomination:
If anything is still unclear, feel free to direct a question at me.
Well then, let’s begin! :
Round One
T3 Medium Tank
“The committee is dissatisfied with this pitiful design. Increase firepower by installing a machine gun!”
(Yes, I know, that this is really a Carro Armato P 26/40. But I wanted to start with a more generic name.)
