Forging Authenticity and Realism

Enhancing Realism and Immersion in Enlisted: Comprehensive Suggestions for Gameplay Features

In the realm of historical military simulations, Enlisted stands out as a vivid portrayal of World War II combat. However, to further enrich the player experience and deepen immersion, several significant gameplay features could be introduced:

  1. Hull Machine Guns for Tank Crews

Proposal: Enable the use of hull machine guns located beside the tank driver. This addition would provide tank crews with an additional defensive capability, allowing them to engage infantry targets more effectively without relying solely on the tank's main armament.

Reasoning: Historically accurate tanks often featured secondary armaments for close defense against infantry, enhancing both gameplay strategy and historical authenticity. Introducing this feature could diversify tactical options for tank crews while maintaining balance in gameplay mechanics.

  2. Persistent Corpses with Realistic Physics

Proposal: Implement persistent corpses that interact realistically with the environment. Bodies should realistically slump against terrain features and react to physics-based impacts, enhancing the tactical landscape.

Reasoning: Persistent corpses add visual depth and strategic implications by altering cover dynamics and battlefield awareness. This feature would enhance realism and strategic decision-making without compromising performance.

  3. Customizable Corpse Despawn Time

Proposal: Provide players with the option to customize the duration before corpses disappear. This feature could range from immediate despawn for performance optimization to extended durations for heightened battlefield realism.

Reasoning: Player preference varies regarding immersion and performance impact. Customization allows players to tailor their gameplay experience, balancing visual fidelity with gameplay fluidity according to personal preference.

  4. Enhanced Gore Mechanics and Realistic Dismemberment

Proposal: Improve gore mechanics to include realistic dismemberment based on the type and intensity of explosions or projectile impacts. Not just the entire leg when it was only a hand grenade to your feet.

Reasoning: Realistic dismemberment adds visceral detail and authenticity to combat encounters. It enhances the visual impact of warfare while providing players with visual feedback on the consequences of explosive and ballistic engagements.

  5. Facial Expressions and Hand Gestures

Proposal: Introduce facial expressions and hand gestures for soldiers to enhance non-verbal communication with your team. Also, this can bring a whole new type of emotions like seeing a soldier panic because of a huge rocket strike nearby, a soldier getting hit and his face reacting realistic not just a simple poker face or a sniper smiling because a long range kill. Hand gestures help with the interaction between two players or more. You can tell in which direction your team should go or pointing your enemies. Simple gestures and expresions can have a huge impact on your immersion

Reasoning: Non-verbal cues improve team coordination and immersion during intense combat scenarios. Facial expressions and hand gestures add depth to player interaction, fostering a more cohesive and immersive gameplay experience.

  6. Dynamic Wet Textures for Soldiers Entering Water

Proposal: Implement dynamic wet textures that appear on soldiers' uniforms and equipment when they enter and exit water bodies.

Reasoning: Realistic visual effects enhance immersion by reflecting environmental interactions. Dynamic wet textures add visual realism and depth to soldier appearances, reinforcing the game's commitment to immersive gameplay experiences.

  7. Realistic Accumulation of Dirt, Blood, and Mud on Weapons and Uniforms

Proposal: Introduce dynamic accumulation of dirt, blood, and mud on weapons and uniforms based on battlefield conditions.

Reasoning: Visual degradation enhances immersion by reflecting the harsh realities of combat. Realistic accumulation of blood stains and mud adds visual depth and authenticity to player soldiers, enhancing the overall realism of battlefield engagements.

  8. Detailed Bullet Impact Textures on Uniforms

Proposal: Ensure accurate and detailed rendering of bullet impact textures on soldier uniforms.

Reasoning: Visual feedback on bullet impacts provides players with tactical information and enhances situational awareness. Realistic representation of bullet impacts reinforces the intensity and realism of combat encounters, improving gameplay depth and immersion.

  9. Friend Chat Functionality

Proposal: Introduce a dedicated chat system for communicating with friends in the main menu.

Reasoning: Enhanced social features promote teamwork and coordination among friends, in addition, players have complained that they have to use an external chat or even the in battle chat to communicate with their partners. So in my opinion this would be a great addition.

In conclusion, the implementation of these proposed features would elevate Enlisted to new heights of realism and immersion. These enhancements would enrich gameplay experiences, providing players with a more authentic and engaging combat simulation.

this part :ok_hand:

I hope this can happen, obviously don’t remain throughout the game, because the number of bodies in the game is brutal, but I would like the bodies to remain for several minutes.

theirs enough gore on the game to use that we
better handling tanks n aircraft and artillery pieces aa guns the tanks are appalling to drive use to slow men can outrun tanks and end the dynamite attacks on tanks and grenades only other tanks aircraft or a bazooka or equivalent should be the only weapon used to kill a tank the games made the tank pointless any dick with a stick which can out run a tank makes the tanks worthless I had 10% use of tanks I either remove them or make them useable they cant croiss a trench is laughable

why dio u want bodys to remain for what point I don’t get it

If its customizable, then maximum allowed should be 30 seconds just to avoid overall lag

I like that they remain, but not forever, because there are too many soldiers who die in enlisted, and if you have played l4d2 you know that when the bodies accumulate, the fps drops instantly

I don´t understand your point.

The maximum should really be up to user preference. With a good computer, the period of time can be very prolonged. If your computer can’t handle that, then YOU should set it to 30 seconds. There’s no need to generalize.

Thought he meant that player can set decay time on their own corpses in the server world. Like Player A would set it 5 minute and Player B would set 3 seconds. So on your own pc, the Player B decays fast, while player A decays slow

I like everything that you have proposed here at times I find myself wondering why they have such a great engine and they under utilize its graphical capabilities in areas I think would add immersion and realism.

The game need better gore system, at least include decapitation and damaged torso model.

Some interesting gore effect

Damage representation for slashing attacks

Damaged torso model

Decapitation

Mid body separation

It would be awesome if you are able to pick up a detached limb and use it as a melee weapon that also grant the ability to charge at the enemy.

Indeed, quite realistic.
For people that want a less violent gameplay, there is an option called “gore [ON] [OFF]”

I fully stand and agree with the gore and body duration bit.
Always thought about that.
