Forestry Map a Defenders Paradise?

The map just feels like it has everything going for the defender, attacker is out in open and has to attack hard to reach points, tanks can’t get through easily and defender can enter buildings easily without being attacked too much.

The first point feels like a freebie honestly to get your hopes up.

Well, thats the whole point of defence - attacker attack prepared positions. Of course the defenders will have an upper hand in that matter.
But the map has a really good design imo. It has perfect balance between long engagement distances, enough cover (the only placewithout it is river - but you can still throw smokes, move behind tanks etc. as soon as you reach second bank there is more than enough cover) and CQB when capturing the points.
For now I played 4 matches on it as attacker - 3 of them were won (1 probably shouldn’t count because it was absolute Blitzkrieg). Is still takes good and coordinated team to properly defend on this map and if the team accomplishes that - they deserve the win.

Takes a while for defenders to understand the map - it’s actually easier for the attacker at the beginning because the defenders do not know how the area is set up - and local knowledge is one of hte prime advantages they have.

That said - a soviet I’ve been blitzed once, lost on the last objective twice, and had 2 fairly easy wins… so it’s not too bad yet.

I have yet to play as Soviet attackers on this while as a defender, the farthest I get so far is the 2nd cap. This map actually reminds me of some of Red Orchestra 2’s brutal maps like the river crossing being like Bridges of Druzhina.

First cap does give me some Tula Outskirts vibe with the forests, hills and stuff while I have yet to see the rest though but 2nd cap is like the last cap of Cu Chi from Rising Storm 2 but more open kinda like outdoors of Cold Steel from Red Orchestra 2. This part being so open that I brought out my stocks of sniper SVT-40s for my snipers.

I don’t think that Soviets can attack on this one atm.

They can. Its just rare.

Thanks, good to know

While I do really like the map for its esthetics and buildings and stuff I hate it for encouraging sniping.
It’s a sniper’s wet dream.

It may encourage sniping, but also gives standard bolt action rifles and LMGs enough space to do their job as they were intended instead of forcing them into CQB (LMGs shine in CQB, but let’s agree that their main purpose should be supporting fire from the distance)

Had the opposite impression for this map. Played it about 10 times but only 2 times had a chance to deploy mg to cover some part of river crossing. It’s super easy to flank on this map, seen attackers place rally point just in the next building from the 2nd point every time. After 2nd point there is not even any open space, it’s all just smg distances.

originally thought this but last night i got stomped hard by germans

the key is arty spam like always

I got to the last cap as Soviet defenders and the real annoying thing on this map is the ridiculous arty spam especially with the upgrade from a dedicated radioman squad. This map gave me the Red Orchestra feeling of intense defensive battles like that with the available flanks and stuff. This variety of forests, the sawmill and the village part.

Building forward spawns on a map like this is pretty much open like had to bring up my tunnel digging skills from Rising Storm 2 to pick a good place of a spawn point in the flanks when houses or buildings are out of the question like in a forest or something.

How did that even work with all the cover lol. Or was it more than one person spamming? Might have been problem not using enough arty. Russians I seem to play know what they are doing. Covering flanks and dodging behind cover with their fast tanks.

Finally gotten some decent sniper vs sniper battles, this map is a new favorite. I just wish the “zone” didn’t move so dramatically, it would be nice to be able to take 500+ meter shots without being killed by that battle royal mechanic.

Problem is can’t get tank into position easily cause of all the stumps, immovable objects and tight tree line. Hoping the whole time you don’t get sniped by AT or their tanks.

Sniping is unfair for everyone who doesn’t use a sniper rifle.
Guess why snipers were usually not taken prisoner in ww1/ww2 and more recent conflicts.
