The following weapons should have their names changed to to make it more consistent, since some foreign weapons retain their original name whilst others, like the vz. 33/40, doesn’t.
Then the following should be changed as well:
Browning Hi-Power → Pistole 640(b)
FN Model 30 → l.MG 127(b) (The caliber should also be changed to 7.65 as it’s in 7.65x53 Belgian)
MAS-38 → MP 722(f)
MAS-36 → Gewehr 242(f)
Lebel 1886 M93 → Gewehr 301(f)
vz. 24 → Gewehr 24(t)
ZK-383 → MP 383(t) (I think)
ZB-26 → l.MG 26(t)
ČZ vz. 27 → Pistole 27(t)
Mannlicher M1895 → Stutzen 95/30(ö)
MG 30 → l.MG 30(ö)
Solothurn S18-100 - 2cm Panzerabwehrbüchse (something, I haven’t found the designation)(s)
Browning wz. 1928 → l.MG 154/2(p)
If Italy were to be split off:
Beretta M1934 → Pistole 671(i)
Armaguerra Mod. 39 → Sl.G 208(i)
Carcano M41 → Gewehr 210(i)
Carcano M1891 → Gewehr 214(i)
Carcano Mod. 38 → Gewehr 231(i)
Carcano Mod. 38 Sniper → Zf.G 231/2(i) (The Germans didn’t seem to have catalogued any scoped Carcanos but this is what it would’ve been named)
Carcano M1891 → Zf.G 214/2(i) (ditto)
Beretta M38 → MP 739(i)
Beretta M38/42 → MP 738(i)
Breda Mod. 30 → l.MG 099(i)
FNAB-43 → MP 43(i) (I think)
I couldn’t find anything regarding Finnish weapons though.

While everything would historicaly correct if they do it that way it would kill off any recognisability of the real firearms represented as nobody in sound mind would understand that the Gewehr 214 (i) actually is a carcano and with it any history about it.
Useing generic as looting designations would stop people from actually knowing wtf they actually are useing and inhibit people from actually learning things.
If every weapon is a mystery box then people will even more focus on the stats instead of their service history.
Also I got my doubt that the soldiers would actually use those designations themself outside of written form when they know what each gun actually is.

I guess you didn’t read the “If Italy were to be split off” part… And most of the weapons would be available for the allies as well, in one form or another. And we already have several foreign designations:
MP 717(r)
MP 719(r)
MP 41(r)
Gewehr 33/40(t)
MP 34(ö) (GIVE US THE Ö DARKFLOW!)
Why not be consistent with it…
they should just let people rename their weapons like heroes and generals did tbh
I mean I would just have it as a togglable option in the menu, a lot of games something similar, even HoI4 has a similar system for swapping between the in game symbols and NATO symbols.

Italian weapons should have italian names primarily, of course.
But absolutely, captured weapons in German use should have German names (surprisingly, the Kiraly would stay the same, as far as I know it was never actually used by Germany), their original names should instead be in the weapons description, I think that’s the best compromise.
This would serve to actually seperate some of the weapons, so it doesn’t look like people are running around with duplicate weapons (a real danger, when the Free French are added as their own subfaction, as they should be).
DF frightened by a cirlce and two dots.

I think I know what letters are in my own native alphabet, thanks.
its stolen so it doesnt count.
Du har inte roliga hattar.
The entire Latin alphabet is stolen, but the Romans aren’t exactly maintaining their copyright anymore.
Irony is that they stole it too, a long line of intelectual property theft to get to us today, simply embrace the oldest noblest of language traditions and steal whatever you find useful.
