Force the stack player play any faction

Bad comparison because that is required for balance and unlike your suggestion it didnt make players leave the game.

How does a restriction that only applies to stacking players cause players to leave the game?
They are only small part of the player, and can just choose one of ā€œstackingā€ and ā€œno challengeā€ anytime they want.

So if player A wants to play USSR BR 5 with player B but player B only has the USSR BR 5 unlocked there is no problem.
But now if you force them play any faction you would throw player B into US BR 5 but with BR 1 gear.

So how does this sound enjoyable if both player A and B just want to have some chill games together but instead are thrown into matches they have no buisness beeing there?

Because why should I play a game I want to play with friends if the game gives me restrictions exclusively for people playing stacked than non-stacked?
Really wondering why other games never made such a flawless choice.

We don’t play japs. No.

I dunno, I guess I’m a boomer but I used to play games where you just randomed a team and that was that. Games still were fine, often doing better than Enlisted is… Most RO2 servers I remember just forced people into random teams…and those used to be the best and most popular ones. HL2 engine mod used to have uncontrolled teams…and youd end up with awful matches over and over until the devs added forced team balance…and the game got way better

Well, you obviously make a proper BR preset for each team? (Sure, the game needs to grow up and just add a way to save a full lineup snapshot, not just squad presets) Congrats, you’re gonna chill AND help your friend level their stuff up, even more good vibes! (Sure, game should give you universal XP if the team you random is already fully researched…and the devs already kind of added 90% of said mechanic…)

Somehow I can do it to play with my friend who is 3, 5, 5, 2 and a different one for 2, 2, 2, 2 for a friend who just started the game? It’s fine.

On majority of the games out there you just get put on a random team and that’s it? What are the games out there where you actually can join a team that already has more players than the other one? Can you imagine playing battlefield where one team has 15 players and other one 10?

HnG had faction choice and even the Retord.Moto devs didn’t make that stupid move.
RS2, to some extent, lets you choose between factions depending on when you join the match/ campaign.

None because unlike the best game since God, those game have enough players and auto-balance features.

Unlike Enlisted, Battlefield has players, so no. Also, BF auto-balance teams.

there is big difference between enlisted and those games. i havent played RO2, but most games that force random teams:

  1. dont have grind to unlock equipment
  2. usually force you to switch team at half time
  3. have balanced setup unlocked for both teams so you wont be at disadvantage if you dont have that BR equipment unlocked

far better solution would be to introduce any vs any MM with some kind of SBMM. but like i said before that would come with its own baggage which would remove some uniqueness of the game.

How do you make a proper preset when you have not even unlocked a single item yourself but get dragged into it because you teammate has it all?

Ironic, since when I tried to play that game everyone told me ā€œdon’t bother, the germans are always ultra stacked and the game is unbearable because of itā€

  1. Have universal XP (won’t be a problem since you’re always randoming anyway).
  2. (and 3.) Have micro campaigns (based on overall tech tree, it’s complicated, im still thinking about it, I wanna do a proper writeup for it eventually)

So you expect devs want to rework the entire game again after the merge just so they can adjust some ultimately minor thing?

  1. it’s not minor
  2. yeah, it would ultimately make the game way better and fix a lot of issues/complains with how stupid the merge can be sometimes

they are having problems implementing simple changes(and bug fixes), not to mention complicated ones.

it would be far easier to implement any vs any with SBMM. would fix a lot more than just faction stacking.

tru :frowning:

It would be a final nail in the ā€œthis game at least pretends to have some semblance of history insideā€
ā€œwe choose to do something something not because it’s easyā€¦ā€

Imagine if instead of, for example, having random ahh pizza de panzers driving right next to King Tigers in Stalingrad, where one side is completely braindead and stuck in spawn…you click one Play button…and load into a match where teams are at least on the same order of magnitude of capability…and everyone has a lineup they themselves made using only period and location correct (with some gameplay concessions - no one in their right mind wants Pz III Bs fighting KV-1s, or bolties fighting AVS 36 or Fedorovs). The best parts of Enlisted would shine - I absolutely loved having to deal with early on campaign gear limitations, the way vehicles worked against each other (it got worse and worse as the campaigns got powercrept). We could have dozens of even more ā€œtightā€ campaigns, each with slightly different meta. I don’t think it would be physically possible to get bored of this game lol.
And the devs would have tons of content options that didn’t involve ever more powercreep…and ways to monetise tons of cosmetics/subnations/fashionframe stuff that is not p2w

everything has its own positive and negatives. any vs any SBMM would have most balanced matches, but like you said it would kill any semblance of history. basically any solution that tries to fix balance issue will have negative sides and it is just question of what negative sides are acceptable to majority of playerbase.

btw i think it is mostly question about these choices:

  1. do you want balanced matches
  2. if you want balanced matches do you prefer having ā€œHAā€ without faction choice or comfort of faction choice but killing HA.

I’ve been playing random factions for a long while, it didn’t kill me, so I guess I’m biased :stuck_out_tongue:

just wait until queue syncing is discovered

That only accounts for the RTS part because of queues for ressources. It still didnt affect much the FPS part.

Are you sure because there were plently of people from the Enlisted HA 2.0 group who wanted and still want this.

Who still believes in this crap, also believes in Santa Claus.

Choose a place with a lot of normal people = fewer idiots = lower possibility of poisoning
This is why no one wants to join a game with a lot of idiots
