Reverse the useless semi auto rof nerf. Strangely enough, auto rifles weren’t such an “issue” (to some) before it and semis were far from obsolete even after having unlocked auto rifles.
I now see semis as sidegrades to bolties (being they all do an underwhelming 12 dam, even if they shoot a bit faster) and auto rifles, like you say, are straight up upgrades.
But… it’s interesting. Instead of the nonsense “restrict auto rifles to radiomen (what? Why the RADIOMAN already lugging his big a** radio around?)” Restrict it to… troopers! They’d have their specific use, then. No more for engies, bombermen, stereoguys and firebugs. Troopers (riflemen). This way you COULD have a 9 man squad of them… At the cost of having NO specialist…
I mean I completely agree. I used normal semi autos over auto rifles on most soldiers until they destroyed the ROF for some reason. As it is now though there is no reason to pick anything else but the auto rifles. I use them in semi auto and its just like how the old semi autos were.
recoil perk, bunny hopping and drop shotting deserve a nerf, the reload time on drummags deserve nerfs, maybe a tiny bit more recoil for automatic weapons, but besides that I think the PPSH is powerful and SHOULD BE powerful.
In reality that monster had almost zero recoil and basically the same fire rate as the mg42.
Yep trooper is the best choice by far. They tried to make them relevant by giving them a rifle grenade but lets be real its incredibly limited and makes you use a much lower leveled weapon its attached to.
Essentially all troopers are for is fill the squad until you literally get anyone else. Every other soldier type can do what the rifleman does but better
There was an atmosphere back then you don’t find anywhere anymore. It felt dark, gritty, serious. Wasn’t run and gun like some Hollywood action hero like every fps today… weapons had serious recoil, hipfiring was out of the question unless point blank range ( camera did NOT center on the firearm when not ads)
Oh, there was music! Was good too. Those games were so realistic and captured the war ambiance and feel so well… That it’s by then I began to find war to be absolutely hugly and disgusting!!!
Waiting in a building I had to defend against the waves of Russian soldiers, holding my simple bolt action rifle with bayonet manually attached, I waited and felt GENUINELY scared while hearing the ppsh41 sounds drawing nearer…
But I’m rambling. It was a damn good game, Ro2 as well.
