motherland or “rodina” means place of birth .pre christianity slav culture associated land with fertility.
This word isnt translated directly to motherland but still carries the connotations about fertility and femininity

Thanks for the interesting story.

PPS-43 is horrible, excessive recoil and dispersion with only a 110 RPM advantage. PPS-42 with Max Assaulter 4 + 40% Vertical recoil reduction, you can aim at someone within 100 meters and shoot 35 Rounds and the gun will not climb past their head, it’s the best BR-2 SMG in the game with the ability to push out to longer ranges.

skill issue trust me ,recoil does not matter

Bold of you to assume they can read it.

They call it in at least three different ways:

  1. Rodina mat’ - motherland or something like that. I guess it was invented during soviet times.(But I don’t pretend that’s are truth)
  2. Otechestvo - land of fathers, Fatherland or something like that. It was invented already in XIX century, maybe earlier, because 1812 war with Napoleon are was called “Otechestvenoy”. (Same as Patria or something like this from Latin I guess. So that’s why on english Velikaya Otechestvenaya Voina it’s Great Patriotic War).
  3. Rodina - homeland, place/location where you born. They also use such word as “Malaya Rodina” - small homeland, which mean specific region of your country.

Russians don’t call Russia the motherland.

The English language thinks the Russians call Russia “Motherland”.

Russians call Russia “Rossiya”, for Motherland there is the word “Rodina”, which is more like “native birth place”, and in older medieval days there was this saying “Rus Matushka” which can be translated as “Rus the Mother”.
