Floatplanes on Pacific tips please

I get they are first level attackers, I know how to take off, but I really struggle to gain altitude, I can fly planes in Enlisted usually, but allied floatplane is a nightmare, I usually kill people with bombs as well, has something changed, do these bombs float in air longer? Has damaged been reduced or is it fact that only 100lb only?

As for mg, if I’m lucky enough to see enemy japanese plane I get on tail, usually put WEP and they still outrun me and I get a couple of hits as they escape due to speed.

I see people using these somewhat effectively, it is one of these planes where you have to fly for few minutes then dive to maintain speed and energy to gain altitude again?

I thought I could support my team with CAS, but when I play unless I hit a tank directly, I get 3 kills each flyby… which then I go back and rearm, although usually try a few strafe runs with mgs to empty them and save leaving battle for 2m!

I only flown the Japanese first level floatplane a couple times, but here is what I’ve learned:
-Take off: full throttle, reach 160-170 km/h speed (110-120mph) then apply take-off flaps then pull back the stick.
-after climbing to 100 meters retract flaps and decrease climb angle to reach about 190-210km/h speed.
-throttle to under 100% (maybe unnecessary, hasn’t tested how long 110% throttle would damage the engine)
-do one or two climbing spiral turn to gain altitude
-now your alt should be about 3-400meters. Not much but enough for the first bombing run
-choose target, dive, attack and do a climbing turn back towards re-arm point
-Because the re-arm is far away you will reach enough altitude for the following bombing runs. I usually attack from 7-800 meters.

I think the japanese floatplane is faster, I use the allies one and pull up around 100-120 kmh, your tips about gaining speed first then putting down flaps I will try and I deploy from start currently.

Bit appreciate your tips, I really struggle with gaining altitude, perhaps I am pulling up to steeply losing speed and dropping I don’t know.

Yes, the Jap plane is surprisingly quick. Haven’t flown the American yet.

I think your guess is right. Try to find the optimal climbing speed, dont force the plane at stall speed. And retract the flaps after getting to a minimal altitude. After that the flaps will prevent you from gaining speed. One or two climb turns will give the plane some time to reach a minimum attack alt.
I hope it will work for you.
Blue skies!

don’t use them
