Flaps damaged by flying not guns

Sometimes I’m flying, drop bombs from a dive, by cutting throttle and deploying combat flaps , I come out of the attack and noone has shot me, my flaps are damaged, can flaps be damaged by high G dives and recovery maybe?

It uses the same dogshit system WT does where if you’re going over their rated speed limit they’ll just rip off. Where IRL they’d just not open at all.

How do I know speed limit then? That is TAS right?

there are figures in the WT wiki for flap limits - War Thunder Wiki (just checked for 3 aircraft)

But basically you are normally better off without flaps deployed.

Nah rather fly with flaps when dive-bombing thanks, but good to know :+1:

Watch your airspeed and lower your flaps, they start in the UP position upon spawning in

So when diving in to attack, I always deploy flaps and reduce throttle to 75%, then raise flaps after pulling up. Not sure if diving you can limit airspeed?

I don’t think airbrakes are implemented yet, but 75% is pretty high for diving. I do 50 if not lower.

AFAIK there’s no airbrakes, but limiting throttle and deploying flaps should certain slow you down.

If the flight model is reasonably accurate it will also significantly change the angle of your dive - but if it is all you can do then likely you’re already compensating/accounting for that.
