Flamethrowers should be able to burn folliage

like they should be able to remove bushes/hedges and burn the leafs off trees, cause that was their intended use when introduced, its just people quickly figured out that they were exceptionally effective at clearing houses and foxholes…

That would be a massive performance hit on the game engine.

Why would it be? We already have great fire effects with no performance hit, all it takes is applying an effect on foliage on fire that slowly transitions it into a different, burnt model over the course of 10-20 seconds. Plenty of other games do this.

I’m pretty sure it actually does.

Well i guess it would take a little hit on the Performance.

Also what i would like to add on the Flamethrowers is a little explosion when you shoot the Soldier with the Flamethrower.

maybe if you shoot the gas tank it could hiss for a few seconds before bursting into flames and then exploding.

if anything it would improve performance after the foliage is burnt

im pretty sure it actually doesn’t… :unamused:

yes it sets it on fire but no it doesn’t burn the foliage away and leave a blackened crispy skeleton of the former bush/hedge/tree

Yes that would be a good idea how they could introduce it!

After it is burnt probably but when it is still burning i could imagine it take a little hit on the performance (on older systems at least).

yea a little hit since the tree/bush object would have to be changed to a burnt version of it but the whole thing could be implemented with very little effect on the performance, i can see if your burning like maybe 100 trees at the same time then it might cause issues but each piece of foliage only really burns for soo long so you’d be fighting the despawning flames if you were trying to cause lag with it

I thought it left burn residue on the ground.

Agree, they already added explosion holes for all explosives which is nice.
Now they should add burn effects for foliage, trees, wooden materials… it will be really helpful in Normandy where is FULL of bush.
