Flamethrower buff ideas

Hello, i am writing about flamethrower problem today. Yes, i know its very discussed theme, but mostly becuase of range. I want to discuss other problems with flamethorowers.

Problem No.1- Range. (US example)
Yes, most discussed one. It should really be buffed a lot. In game range of it is circa 6 metres. In reality, it was around 16 meters. ( I am talking about in-game one.)

Problem No.2- Type of flamethrower (US example)
Yes, the M1 was used too, but in the time of game, other was used more. It was M2 flamethrower. This one could shoot flames to distance of 20-40 metres! It would be more logical to have this one in game instead of M1. Only problem with M2s is very small gas tank. The M2 can shoot one 7-second lasting burst. After that, its depleted.

Problem No.3- The “shot” itself
Another problem is with the shape of flames. In the game, i feel like its cloudy and thick. In reality, it was much different. I think that flamethrowers in Enlisted are the worst in all of WW2 games. Good example of how in-game flamethrower should look like is the one in the Red Orchestra. Flamethrower in Red Orchestra is the most realistic i have ever seen. I will show you how it should look like.

Two examples, look at them. Notice the flames at the end of shot, they are really wide. Not like in Enlisted.

Problem No.4 - Damage
We all know this issue. Damage is too low, if i dont count the burning you have to extinguish. In reality, it was almost insta kill, you wouldnt have time to do anything and died permanently.

That is all, i just want to say i have given example of US flamethrowers. Feel free to comment, correct me or add ideas. I would be very thankfull if you added some ideas for German flamethrowers and Soviet ones.

Aside from a very small damage buff being necessary, the flamethrower is fine. The range is a lot more consistent and better than it was in CBT. Balancing it is a nigh-impossible task, as even the slightest hint of it being overpowered will completely ruin the game.

Again; a small damage buff is what it needs.

And what about that range? As i said, that M2 could burst for only 7 seconds, it wouldnt be overpowered becuase of this.

As someone who uses the Axis on Normandy campaign, I can give you some detail on the other side of the battle. It’s… basically the same issues. Not enough range, and enough spread, and not enough damage.

I have to hope I am completely behind an enemy team, and no one even looks at me while I hose them down with 2 second time to kill. They can turn and one shot me with their bolt action rifle, and that’s if I am behind them. If I’m assaulting a position, and they are actively pulling security, and I still somehow manage to get close enough, I am typically killed before having much of a chance. Even if I burn them first before they shoot me.

That’s fair enough. Though I wouldn’t mind the same damage if, say, there was another way. As in, you couldn’t shoot me while your on fire until you extinguish. Or if you attempted to, your weapon sway would be incredible. Something, you know?

Yes, this is why it needs a range buff. They massacre you. Flamethrowers are most useful in bunkers, but they can massacre you with SMGs. If it would have real range, you wouldnt need to get to bunker and burn them safely with good distance. Same goes for outside fighting.

Well, 45 yards (41 metres) should be portable Flamer Range to be useful!

Most of the problems with underpowered FT can be solved by not allowing burning soldiers to shot.
It’s both gamebreaking and stupid that it works that way.

so before this “buff” did they burn you through the floors and walls? because its is completely unrealistic the way it is now. Especially when they take say the 75mm shell overpressure and dont model it at all

guys would not only be able to shoot and likely to shoot while burning to death but the ammo they carry would also detonate / cook off while you run right next to them through the fires that do no damage to them. No , its already overpowered and needs to be reduced. No burning people through walls/flloors/ceilings etc… And since they dont do flame damage to vehicles in war thunder unless they have a open top why do they do it here? Napalm would literally cook a crew alive in a tank unless MAYBE it had a CBN Overpressure system keeping the fire/smoke out and then it would do crazy damage to the engine and anything exposed to the outside wiring/optics/engine vents etc. But no it does nothing.

Dude, this topic is 2 YEAR old. You know that things have changed since then, right?

for the worse?

They were useless, now they are quite strong + have a bug (fire through walls).
Fix the bug and they will be in quite ok spot (on the strong side).
