Flak 36 88mm at/aa emplacement

Now that there is a new update and new tanks being added i think germany should give engineer 3s an ability to build the 88mm flak

It could work well against bombing runs
And as a static emplacement against enemy infantry and tanks

A flak 88 placement
Soviets could get the 85 mm air defense gun M1939 (52-K)
Or something similar
Us/uk QF 3.7-inch AA

I think the biggest potential problem would be engineer spam. Think of an engineer squad with 6 engineers, if you manage to destroy one 88mm flak then the engineer would build another one if he’s not dead, if he’s dead then the player would switch to a different engineer in their squad.

An engineer squad can build dozens of 88mm flak, now think of multiple players using engineer squad. This engineer spam was the reason why AA gun have elevation restriction, and it’s only 20mm.

Maybe a usable 88mm flak can exist as a unique but limited object on a map. The flak then should be able to take damage and be repaired by engineers to use like the guns on the armored train mode.

Definitely not for engineers. The ability to build improved AT guns should be given to AT-Squad. Engies are the jack of all trades but masters of none. HMGs are built my machine-gunner squads while heavier AT guns are built by the AT squad.

He is talking about heavy AA gun instead of AT gun.

It would encourage players to use engineer more and maybe even build more rallies. Maybe you would need certain amount of engineer score to build the big aa guns

He mentions in the title AT/AA. Which means it could be used to attack ground targets unless it is given the same limitation as current AA with a certain degree elevation. If used purely for AA then I see no issue, if meant to also be used as an AT, I’m completely against it being given to the engineer squad.

Well, you can also give better AT gun to AT squad. We can have both.

Could also be given to high level at gunners

It would also be a bigger target to enemies and would require more careful placement as it would be quite a lot taller than the current pak gun
And it would be immobile serving more as a stationary defence weapon with more traverse

Just makes it redundant and confusing. Would make more sense if higher level engineers had access to heavier dedicated AA guns like the FlaK 37 or the return of the quad FlaK 38, on the condition of giving similar AA guns to the other nations. Double purposed AA/AT guns like the 88 should be restricted to AT-squads.

Would work as an improved at gun for higher level squads
Flak 88 was one of the most successful anti tank guns (even if it is an aa)

Its not too op like a pak 43 would be

The issue isn’t giving an improved AT guns to AT-squads, the pak 43 or the soviet BS-3 wouldn’t be OP if given to the AT-squad. The issue is giving a dual-purposed AT/AA gun to the engineers, which DO NOT need a buff. Otherwise there’d be no incentive to play any other squad.

Like a single Squad that could assemble the flak

Could be engineer could be at gunner or a brand new Squad

The squad in question would not be able to Make an at gun or aa gun indivitually

Just The flak as a multipurpose gun

The 88mm flak would be awesome since it would allow infantry to combat the bombing runs and heavier tanks like the IS-2.
The current aa can take at best 1 bomber before it can drop its bombs, and the pak 40 really struggles against the heavier tanks.

The americans could also get the 90mm m2 gun to serve the same purpose.
