The air game is currently a mess and in dire need of balance, there are 2 main issues :
First :
Currently, bombers are mostly used as a one time use power up, people spawn in, suicide bomb, get 0-20 kills, get their bing bing wahoo dopamine hit and go back on the ground.
To fix that if a CAS plane dies without anyone killing it it should cost two to three time the number of tickets and increase the timer to respawn the plane.
Second : currently fighters are mostly useless, for the reason cited above and because doing air superiority isn’t rewarding.
To fix that simply raise the vehicle kills rewards for fighters so you don’t get 5k xp for killing 8 planes and 30 infantries. Someone doing air superiority for a while and contesting enemy bombers should be rewarded more. This would also make pure fighters more appealing instead of always using those that comes with mediocre rockets or 50kg bombs.
As a whole, suicide bombing should come with a heavy price and fighters needs to be rewarded for doing their role. And no, i won’t go play warthunder, i like inter arm games.
I don’t think people will give to wits about how much it cost their team, I mean I just don’t think it’s something that people think about, I’m an old stat whore so you know for me I would rather die as little as possible but I don’t think that’s most of the players I don’t think they care about how many times they die it’s not a factor for them all that matters is how many kills they get.
If you wanna penalize them for doing the suicide mission, which I think is beyond cheesy, the Kamikaze thing not the proposed penalty, then you should probably give them fewer points for dying within a certain amount of time, like if they right after they release they get no reward, or 20% or something like that.
Flying air superiority can be fun, and there are some matches where there are a lot of airplanes in the air and you can have a lot of fun doing it, but you can also spend the entire match flying circles…
I have the patience to do this but I don’t think many players do it can be very rewarding but it’s not for everybody.
There have been several things that have been suggested in the past some of which I brought up myself which includes some of the following:
Turn team damage back on. Simple as. Even better, have it work like team damage in LF where you get points deducted for every friendly player you kill.
Have a point system. Your forced to play ground until you gain enough points to fly a plane. Fighters cost less points than a bomber. After you lose your plane your points go back to 0 and you have to start all over again.
I think if you die in your plane right after dropping bombs you timer should go to 5min.
This, but one more thing. Add a second point in addition to the re-armament point where if you fly to it, you return to the squad select menu and the plane squad is locked as if you had died, but no tickets are used when you respawn and you don’t get another squad death.
Edit: Why not also make every vehicle like that, so we don’t get crap like Tigers and Jumbos instantly spawning on the beaches of Normandy. War Thunder already has a spawn point system, so it shouldn’t even be that hard to implement.
Just make that old bug from 1 Year ago a feature, I’m talking about the one that if you died shortly after dropping the bombs you wouldn’t receive the kills or the xp

And won’t people say it’s too brutal and unfair? Yes it is but that would be a L2F issue
minimum drop altitude would cripple suicide bombing by actually forcing people to learn how to drop bombs, bomb dropped below a certain alt should be duds. Also you might enjoy doing nothing and I do too, sometime, but doing air superiority should be rewarded so you don’t just have the people enjoying it doing it.
Many people say team damage would allow for trolling.
There’s 2 options here:
In chivalry 2 you only do 25% damage to teammates if you strike them. With this it won’t always be a insta kill but you should think twice before dropping on your teams head.
In games like Tannenberg and Verdun you get -10 points for shooting a teammate. Maybe this could be implemented for dumping explosives onto friendlies.
