the implementation of fire and flamethrowers is currently really strange and far from realistic.
If we ignore the lacking range of flamethrowers (about 20m), we still have the problems of immediate character ignition, spray like flamethrowerfire, lacking splash radius and weird fuel systems.
Both the Flammenwerfer 35 and the ROKS-2 use regular fuel, which continues burning after it hits the target. Contrary to what we see ingame however, is this a much more controlled flame:
Suggestions:
reduce the initial spread of the flame, add a minor splash effect when it hits a target and potentially increase the time a soldier is set on fire
reduce the surfaceflames created by flamethrowers (make the fire look smaller), decrease the damage dealt by those flames and increase the time these flames take to ignite a soldier
give each flamethrower the correct amount of flamecharges with the correct maximum burst time
reduce the maximum amount of Soldiers that can carry a flamethrower
i don’t say increase the time it takes the flamethrower to ignite someone (on the contrary actually), but increase the time secondary fires created by flamethrowers take to ignite someone.
(I corrected your post to what i think it means because it doesn’t make any sense otherwise)
For me, the most important buff it needs is to not get caught on door and window edges. For this, I can best give an example:
The flame’s hitbox is kind of a box. Even though you try to fire into a window, the box edge might hit the edge of the window, leading to no fire entering the building. Instead, I think the flame should have more, smaller hitboxes, so while a small part of the flame would get blocked, the rest would go through.
Flamethrowers were anti bunker weapons, after all!
Flamethrowers are really weird right now. Their work more like Elon Musk’s “flamethrower” than real military ones. It looks like spraying a deodorant over a lighter. Flammenwerfer 35 had up to 30m range, in game it doesn’t work further than 10 meters. Not to mention - where are the damn fuel tanks for these things? What are they shooting? Air?
you know what would be cool if they add tanks to the back of flame thrower guys, they ashould make so if you shoot the flame thrower tanks the flame thrower dude explodes just like in real life.
