Fixing Enlisted: A More Inclusive and Historically Accurate Approach

No doubt ill be targeted for speaking facts. The pill everyone wants to take but cant swallow is the truth.

Enlisted prides itself on being somewhat historically immersive shooter, offering players the chance to experience World War II from multiple perspectives. However, there are inconsistencies in how historical representation is handled. While some factions had branches —like the Waffen-SS—are present, the game restricts other groups or nations, either omitting them entirely or making them difficult to access.

Historical Accuracy Should Be a Choice

I have no issue with the inclusion of Waffen-SS units or historically accurate insignias. These are part of history, and players should be given the option to experience the game as authentically as possible. However, this level of authenticity should apply across the board. If players want to play as lesser-known factions or controversial groups from the war, that should be a toggleable option, not an arbitrary exclusion.

Expanding Factions with a Simple System

Instead of limiting faction choices, Enlisted should allow players to toggle different groups on or off based on personal preference. This could work in a few ways:

1. Faction Selection – Players should be able to pick from a broader range of nations with the flip of a switch. Minor factions that participated in WWII—even in a limited capacity—should be available without unnecessary restrictions.

2. Insignia and Unit Customization – Allow players to decide whether they want full historical accuracy (including uniforms and insignias) or a more sanitized version of the game.

3. Balanced Representation – If the game includes controversial factions like the SS, then excluding other groups (such as resistance fighters or lesser-known armies) creates an inconsistency. Either go all in on history or allow players to curate their experience.

Why This Matters:

A game that claims to be a little historically accurate should either commit fully to that goal or give players the tools to shape their own experience. Right now, Enlisted applies historical accuracy selectively, which leads to unnecessary debates and frustrations within the community. A simple toggle system would allow players to engage with history in a way that suits their personal comfort and interest levels, making the game more inclusive without erasing its core identity.

At the end of the day, WWII was a global conflict with many moving parts. Enlisted has the opportunity to do something few other shooters have—give players a full picture of history while letting them choose how deep they want to go.

STOP Hating axis powers because if history. Stop restricting historically accuracy. Give it as an option in game. PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE TO SEE INSIGNIA AND WHAT EVER ELSE.
The people who cry about it can always pick no. Not very difficult. Dont be playing God. Cos your not.

As for Ireland dont belive what everyone tells you. Keep smart comments to yourself. Already been shut down twice. Theirs SS in game so can Irish. All other lesser nations involved whether Allies or Axis should be involved with an option to choose them. Fix the game. Do your part. Allow us to choose the nations involved. To have insignias in all factions. Stop tryna keep me from getting my points across. Fix the system. The courrupted system against Axis powers. Against lesser nations. Compensate us properly for your silly mstakes. Last bu not least have an absoluley great dayy. Thanks for understanding.

In order to respect history, let’s delete the blue tank first. Do you agree?

This does at best partially fix the legal implications of SS and swastika bans in certain nations.

If banned in nations understandable. Theirs other ways to implement the eagle without using a swastika. Dont even think i mentioned swastika anyways due to being banned. Someone need to pull their head outta their hole. Other people have something smart to say im in the right mood today. (Not you of course)

Edit: Sniper Elite includes swastikas and SS symbols in some versions of the game, but it depends on the region. In Germany, for example, earlier entries censored them, but Sniper Elite 4 and later games started using them again after the laws loosened up for historical contexts in games.

Their is a blue tank??

well ugh… we’re off to a great start considering that the SS were not a faction, but a branch of the german armed forces.

chine, and other countries will not agree to this.

the main reason why DF has to censor everything EVEN with an harmonization mod existing.

and your ( as much as mine for that matter ) of historical accuracy <<< monetary finances for DF / gaijin.

that seems a whole lot of " too much " for an alt history type of game like enlisted.
like those history channels at 1 am.

enlisted is not, and will never be an historical accurate games.
it wasnt designed to be one ( despite the clear lies from the advertisement team ).
and it doesn’t have to be one truth be told.

but for the argument sake, all uniforms should be just available in the customization and anyone can make whatever the hell they think / want.

it’s relatively simple too.

that way, you don’t preclude branches but allow diverse armies.
like, full luftwaffe ground units, full heer, mixed divisions with british or americans, same as italians and germans. etc.

choice should be up to the player.

well ugh,

that is, if they would actually have cared.
but as explained, money dictates. not " what’s right or wrong ".

is that really the case though?.

funny that you mention that.

but no axis is being hated upon beside some allies main, or … axis themselves.

Except for the rommel and yamoto commanders portraits that are still in the game, but locked.

that’s some certified bs moment from df.

well yes.

the ho-ri production and prototype.

both are straight up fictional tanks that not even a single example was built outside a wooden mockup.

and it’s performance are way better than originally “predicted”.

Yes i know they are a branch not factions. I mean that if they can include those branches they can include others also. From different factions if that makes sense. I explain things very strange

Can i ask why that is allowed if its fictional.

I agree with and respect that.

because of " balance ". ( in japan case though, they didn’t had many tanks to begin with. so i can sort of get behind. after all, most of their TT are either anachronistic or straight up fiction. something that the japanese could only have ever dreamed of having on the actual front lines. but again, for balance purposes it’s fine ).

or, like the coenders / stg 45 / stg horn, if not most gold order weapons. straight up " funni " prototype to sell or fomo their way into. at least their appearance was rather limited. but still innacurate most of them are.

it doesn’t seem people really understand how historically inaccurate enlisted truly is.
and that is probably for the best.

i would be lying if the examples are only 3 or 4, but there are way many.

because historically accurate games are not balanced, nor fun. and games that are not balanced nor fun don’t tend to live very long.
( and that’s coming from someone who is fond on historically accuracy but i keep them in customs. i don’t demand them in public lobbies. a simulation like war thunder would be great, but then again, not enough playerbase to fill matches so… there goes that ).

Ahh I see what you mean. Just sucks tbh. Should be some way we can have little detail like this in game by choice. Just saying.

He is refering to ho-ri

Never knew about that ngl.

I don’t see why people present historically accurate prototypes as something not historically accurate.

Just because they’re flawlessly fuctional?
Well, in that case even mass produced weapons like MG42 just doesn’t behave ingame the way it did in real life.

Why?
Because enlisted is a historically accurate game. But it is not historical reenactment simulation. And game should always prioritize gameplay over everything else.

The only stuff that is not HA from my perspective are time traveling decals or straight up made up decals/skins.

So are you saying prototypes are historically accurate, just that the game isn’t aiming for perfect realism?

It’s not like these prototypes are completely made up fiction.

No, they’re historic prototypes.

Of course, it is not historically accurate that one per three soldiers on the battlefield is equipped with them.
But you don’t even need prototypes for that. When you play high BR, most German soldiers are running around equipped with FG.

It’s just a matter of perspective of how each individual player perceives it and what they expect from the game.
Which leads to a lot of people kind of forgetting that Enlisted is still a game in the first place, not something else.

Well ill agree with you on that. When their is credit due the hat comes off. Yes its not a simualtor and its only a video game. Just would be nice to implement lesser known factions that fought along side others as allies. To have a few little details in the game. Thats all im kinda suggesting really. Would make the game nice seeing badges, insignias and different accents.

I really wonder what according to such nitpicking perfectionists is a historically accurate WW2 game.

With the demands they have, such a game does not exist and never will.
They’re just indulging their egos by constantly pointing out various insignicant inaccuracies.

Yeah makes sense. Just would be nice to i dunno hear uk accents canadian american german Italian Indian all the smaller factions that list is probably huge. So i wont keep naming them out haha  its the small little details have a big impact yano what i mean.

Yes, there are a lot of things in this game that could be improved or better implemented for more immersion.
