Fix the D*mn damage model on transport trucks

Im not talking about APCs, I’m sick and tired of these basic (no armor) trucks taking insane amounts of damage and just drive off. Example:

See American Truck

  1. Have engineer, throws nade under truck. Nothing happens.
  2. I switch to the LMG class (Type 100 LMG) and empty and entire mag into the engine compartment. No damage, no fire.
  3. Squad dies trying to kill it.
  4. I switch to an AT soldier after spawning new squad and shoot 1 rocket (then i get shot) into the engine/cab area of truck. NOTHING HAPPENS.

funny part? the dude gets back in after they cap the point and drives it off to another area of the map.

The damage model is annoying. These trucks should easily die (or atleast engine catch fire) to small arms fire, because they have no armor. Literally nothing. Instead they are tanking rounds that should 100% of the time kill them easy.

FIX IT

They die fine to HE shells but everything else is RNG fest.
“No armor best armor” I guess?

They should just have hp system instead of components. That way there would be less problems

apc has a hp system you can see the heathl bar when ur controlling one

Idk, EPs and HEs always works like heaven.

They seem to take damage, just fine, when i am, in it :sob:

Explosives work just fine on them.

Seems to me that they’re doing it more for balance and limited Dev resources. They look like trucks, but act more like APCs.

Frankly, I think it’s silly that the US in this game has to end up with a truck and there’s no option for a half-track, yet, I can (and did) buy an American half-track for use with Russia.

Also, the push the truck to the end of Tier 2 for research, which means, it takes a lot of investment and then has to be driven to the front. To have it wiped out by a hand-grenade is pretty brutal, particularly since there are usually a dozen ways for them to die already.

Still its bullshit that you can dump all your PIAT rounds into one for fuck-all.

The HP of a truck is around 400 or 500. According to Enlisted Resource, type 97 AT rifle has damage of 287.5, while panzerfaust 100 only gets 150 post-pen damage. This means we can destroy a truck with 2 shots of AT rifle or with 4 to 5 shots of panzerfaust.

I dont mind this sort of balance. Faust is king of anti heavy armor, other methods for light/no armor.

Might not be strictly “realistic” but im a fan of different tools for different jobs instead of one tool does everything, therefore anything that is not it, is obsolete. Just like tanks, deciding when to use which shell

Im quite happy with APCs, easy kills for certain methods

you can kill it with an AP mine

imho if you destroy engine of truck it should be dead like it hit ammo rack.

APC already have a healthpool, so there is no need for something like that. If someone fails to destroy APCs efficiently, he just suffer from skill issues.

well i want to be able to kill it with bazooka… kinda stupid that APC still works with blown engine.

Literally every other vehicle works with dead engine too, so why there should be exception for APCs?

cause i would guess that apc “works” by transporting troops from back to parked spot in some game logic.

tanks can still work cause they can shoot. although i would make them immobile. making field repairs on engine is almost impossible.

That’s similar overcomplexity like not allowing engineer ro use hammer after he has been shot to his arm.

come on now dont give enlisted a new healing idea

Yes and no. I can kind of see your point since the tank functions more like the real thing. Track blown, it still shoots.

HOWEVER, the truck/apc is not literally making AI managed runs to and from the front to the back. So, the suspension of disbelief happens when accepting that the APC or truck functions at all as a way to get troops spawned onto the map in the first place. Not just because it can still spawn troops b/c the engine is blown.

Technically, it’s not using the engine any longer (for 99% of the time except for the very rare occasion when someone moves it) to do any of the transport function. It just sits there.

In for a penny (in suspension of disbelief) in for a pound.
