So, the main problem is the balance with planes in Moscow and Normady campaigns.
Example: the BF 109-F1 is capable of destroy the Iliushyn in Moscow, but in Normandy the same plane (BF 109) is useless against american planes, I mean, I know that american industry is good, but not that good… To endure 13 and 20 mm!!
I’m not actually whining about the planes like so many others (actually I do believe that you, the devs, should buff the bombs again), but just give a proper balance if you’re aiming to provide a videogame with “historical accuracy” and such.
About the bombs: 50 KG OF EXPLOSIVES doing nothing? C’mon, I know that the kids playing Enlisted like to complain and ask for nerfing every two days, but as I said, if you (devs) want to provide a videogame with historical accuracy, you have to stick to reality, maybe buff them up a little bit, not too much, but at least enough to actually do something with 50 KF of EXPLOSIVES…
maps are too small to actually have real values for explosives. hazardous fragments for 50kg bomb could go up to 200m, and for 250lbs (113.5kg) up to 300m. most of the lethal fragments are in much smaller area, but still for game purposes they needed to be nerfed.
Yeah, but it’s not about which side has the best vehicles, but the balance they give to them, it’s gotta be okay on a 1v1, not give super vehicles for one side and super weapons or super infantry to the other one.
I know, I’m not talking about extreme realism, I’m talking about giving some of it to the game, 'cause it’s a complete shame to see bombs that are even more useless that TNT packages.
What I’m trying to say is that the Jumbo is great, yeah, but what’s after it? The counterpart (Panzer IV-H) is useless, so following your logic it’s okay if instead of adding balance to the actual counterparts they jus add another broken vehicle, the bomber in this case. The main point here is just to try to make them balance the planes (and tanks, why not). Not just ask for better equipment on the other side.
considering values of hazardous fragments for explosive value, they are still nerfed. and you were probably killed by 2x250kg bombs that could probably have over 400-500m hazardous fragment range. if they put real values, there would be much more infantry dead/wounded over much bigger area.
those bombs are not useless… you just need to know how to aim with them. there are couple of youtube videos that show how effective dive bombing can be with 50kg bombs. but it requires map knowledge and battle awareness.
One thing about bombs, most of the time (especially for German bombs) only about 50% of a bombs mass is explosive, the rest is casing. Thus, a single 50kg bomb would have about the same explosive mass as some tanks’ HE shell. However, you do get 4 of them on the Bf 109 G6 so careful use of them will provide decent CAS. In fact if you do the math, the 109 has the second highest bomb load for any fighter in Normandy, just after the P-51D.
IIRC, the 85mm and 88mm have HE shells with tnt equivalents of about 20 kg, and even still you need to have some aim with those. If you just fire them off willy nilly, you will get 1-2kills per shot at most.
On topic of plane ballance, is soviet biplane fighter in moscow weird or it’s me? I have more succes shooting down the “flying tank” IL-2 than this cursed little thing. It seems to eat bullets like no tommorow.
