Right now, it’s pretty abysmal. It’s pretty much a coin flip as to whether you’ll kill any crew after penetrating an american tank. Without the ability to consistently kill and ammo rack m13s, americans use the m13 to dominate pacific (m13 spam is extremely common since it’s the first vehicle you get, and it’s so good at penetrating japanese tanks that most players probably don’t move on from it until you unlock the stuart flamethrower)
So making the APHE do more damage would make Japan a lot less frustrating to play.
I’ve managed to ohk a few times but it seems more often that not it takes 2 - 3 shots to detonate ammo rack. this might be because the ammo is just .50 bullets instead of actual shells. but still, the thing is ridiculous.
i think this is because the m13 and ta-se would explode if you shot the last crew member which was kind of unrealistic. but now we have the ‘problem’ of tanks not dying if you kill all of a tank’s crew with penetration, allowing other players to steal the vehicle xp by blowing it up. this was already bad enough for planes, now it’s a thing with tanks too
Like I told you SJ was live streaming that bug in practice. He pointed out that specifically left ammo storage in the back can’t be detonated. He tried everything - TNT, AT weapons, explosive packs and even shooting at it. Nothing. And that was like a month after the release of this campaign.
back in a day there were 4 ammo racks in the each corner of the halftrack, two ath the end of the vehicle and 2 behind drivers + 2 on the gun itself …so 6 … once you shot HE shell to the turret , the explosion shrapnels spread trough whole vehicle, hit the racks and explosion followed, you could also hit any of those racks with AT rifle and halftrack exploded, after some updates the halftrack was redesigned and these racks disappeared and since then nothing changed, so now i have really no idea where halftrack stores its ammo
No, the M13’s ammo is correctly modeled in the damage model, the thing is it has half the ammo of it’s counterpart in War Thunder, but still has all the ammo modeled on it’s actual model. So if you shoot half the “ammo”, nothing happens. Shoot the other half and the M13 instantly explodes though.
Yeah, it takes a while to learn which ammo racks are real and which ones are decorative, which can be annoying. Furthermore, the ones modeled by the radio is incredibly hard to hit with the Lunge Mine. I basically only target the one in the back right corner. Killing all the crew isn’t too to hard, but then I have to waste extra ammo to kill the M13 completely. They really need to make SPAA explode when the crew dies again. It’s not like it would encourage people to grey zone camp more.
