Short topic, now that the AVS36 sound bug is fixed, could we also make it and the other full auto rifles start on full auto instead of semi-auto, thus bringing it in line with the AVT40? Thanks
edit, this is a better solution

I think it’s part of the game design whether a fully automatic rifle starts in full auto mode or not, the M2 has worse damage and aiming than the FG42, so the designers gave it a high rate of fire and default full auto mode as an enhancement, and the AVT40 started out far worse than the FG42-2 so it got default full auto.
This logic doesn’t follow because the AVT40 starts in full auto
Avt40 is a battle rifle like the avs36, there is no motive for him to start in full auto
(Or call himself assault rifle in stalingrad)
they should both start in full auto
better yet, there could be a setting for it
At least the av36, because is written in the description that is a fully automatic gun
The AVT40 started out with almost uncontrollable recoil, so it received default full auto as compensation, and as the AVT40 was updated its recoil gradually became controllable and the default full auto feature was retained. Just like the Soviet AKT40 squad in Moscow, which was sold not only as a 9-man advanced squad equipped with fully automatic rifles, the AKT40 was also fully automatic by default, which brought very high combat efficiency to the AI soldiers using it
If DF made the AVS36 have default full auto as well, then the Soviet AVS36 in Moscow would become even more unbalanced and I would no longer need to switch soldiers one by one to change the firing mode, just walk out with my AI soldiers and watch them mow down the Germans
And this dont mean it have to start in semi-auto because it was a bad in full-auto in berlin early days
(Expecially irl)
How make your gun Waste more ammo can be a compensation?
I don’t think the default full auto mode is for the player, but for the player’s AI. AI soldiers use them without consuming spare ammo and are not affected by recoil, so they may perform better than the player with certain weapons that are difficult to control (think Madsen machine guns and Breda 30s). There are quite a few threads on the forums complaining about the AI having cheat levels of accuracy, consider that these AI have a rifle that can spray 15.6 damage ammo at a rate of 660 rounds per minute on full auto and have absolutely no fear of what happens when they run out of ammo.
We should be able to save fire mod from game to game the same way we can save squad behaviour and formation.
this is probably the optimal solution rather than adding a menu option.
This is part of the game balance mechanism, and developers are unlikely to make changes to it.
I’m aware that could be the case, but the point is that it doesn’t make sense or has been neglected. Maybe it makes sense for the AVS since the germans don’t have an equivalent full auto battle rifle on moscow (but they do in Berlin!). Yet in that case, why does the AVT start in full auto, when its equivalent, the FG42 II, starts in semi?
And wy the ppd40 start in full auto wen the vg1-5 has only the semi-auto mode?
additionally, all i need to do to mitigate such balancing is to switch through my squad and change the fire mode, which takes about two seconds. so in theory, it’s pointless.
that’s a false equivalence and you know it
Yes but is fun see how developers not have balanced the two gun, we can say the same on wy instead of the ZB29 (zk in full-auto) we get the base ZK29 aganaist the avs36
