I think the first Japanese fighter plane squad should have access to a 2nd aircraft besides the A5M4, mainly because the A5M4 is incredibly hard to level up the squad with if there are no enemy aircraft in the battle as the two machine guns are just not enough to kill enemies reliably or destroy even the open topped vehicles. Looking at War Thunder tech tree there are two possibilities:

For the sake of variety, I suggest adding the N1K1 because we already have three different A6M variants.
It can carry two 60 kg bombs and has an armament comparable to the A6M3 - two 20 mm autocannons with 100 rounds each and two 7.7 mm MGs with 550 rounds each.

I say add IJA aircraft so you can get an airspawn

There already is one in game, the Ki-61-I Hei squad is an IJA squad, don’t know if they have air spawn though.

The 204th Air Group (the A5M4 squad) is a Navy unit, so it should get IJN aircraft. But as for what would fit into tier I, I think it should be the Ki-43-II, maybe with two 100kg bombs.

My main point with this suggestion is to give the A5M4 squad another aircraft to make it easier to grind.
And my point is instead of advocation for more sea and carrier planes, add IJA planes
Why not both then? Japan doesn’t have enough aircraft anyways compared to all the other tech trees.
