no, m2C is a PDW which is more like an SMG than an assault rifle with .30 carbine having more common wit .45apc and 9mm parabellum
I’d classify .30 Carbine as an intermediate cartridge, not a pistol cartridge (like 9mm Para, .45 ACP or 5.7x28mm). Weak, but still an intermediate cartridge. And that would make M2 an assault rifle.

Sure, but so were all rifle cartridges before WWI, and on the other hand cartridges like 5.7x28mm or 4.6x30mm are pointed and yet are considered pistol rounds.
Never mind, what I wanted to say is that the M2 Carbine is a full auto weapon that shoots weaker-than-rifle rounds, just like the MP 43/I, so it should be treated as such.
