Great job on the game thus far–it is a lot of fun. A few suggestions that I think will help improve the user experience.
Introducing a Medic role: Ability to apply a medkit to downed soldiers from other squads on your team. This role can only be initiated and performed when the user controls the character.
Central Repository for Weapons and Gear that is populated automatically when a squad is moved from active to reserve. Today, it is painful trying to equip a team.
Highlight the name of a squad when you move your cursor over them. Instead of a blue X, this would include their username so that you can communicate with them in the event you want to rush a point, flank, etc.
You can already do that.
I pretty sure you can already do that. But nobody do it: you just switch character and let your AI die. They are expendable. And I can’t imagine a teammate ever reviving me.
A medikit box (like an ammo box) would be at least a little more relevant in a game where you die 2s after being downed.
Otherwise I think it would a useless addition to the game.
Maybe one day when the AI will not be expendable, will be smart, without suicidal though, or without rurning in circle, it could be nice to have a medic that can increase the life span of your squad. Maybe one day…
But for the moment the squad in this MMO Squad based shooter is just a gimmick.
All your soldiers will always be expendable. There is no reason to survive in this game.
You die, you wait 10s and you are back in, 20m from the action. Why bother?
[Edit]
Personally it’s the reason why I’m getting bored with the game. What to get excited about when failure means nothing?
I understand what you say but I let me give a conter exemple: How many times did you prefer to stay on the capture point while all your squad was dead because it was more worth it? A fresh squad would have push you back.
=> Your position was more usefull than a new squad of 9 soldier.
This game is a sprint. You lost soldier as you move farther. But at the moment the AI is just some kind of currency you spend to move on. You just make calculation with it.
I would like my AI be more valuable depending of the situation.
Ex: MG AI in a house you order, aiming at a position you ask for, ready to make suppression fire.
This way your AI would not be just a currency you need to cap a point and move forward but a real asset that could help you to protect a position like a MG squad you have placed on Company of Heroes.
This way having a medic to make your position stronger and your squad more durable would be an asset and your squad would be more than an expendable token.
Stupid AI is the problem of this game, more than bugs.
If both were fixed the game could be release without fear of the CyberPunk effect.
I wish but I don’t believe AI will be something more than spare lives. No matter how advanced.
Simply because the game is not about AI, it’s about zergrush. In zergrush there is no need nor time to give advanced commands.
I am referring to using a medic kit on other players (actual human players) outside of your squad. There needs to be a way to promote teamwork in this game–if it doesn’t get used, it doesn’t get used. But if you put experience points behind the ability to apply a med pack to an injured player it can help capture critical points and cut down on the hemorrhaging of players available for each side.
You already can heal other players and even their AI when they get downed. It works in the same way as your own AI healing you, so it takes less time than such person needs to heal themselfs (if they don’t have healing speed perk), but at the cost of your own medkit. And the exp for that is way too low to be rewarding. So that’s why you don’t see players healing each other almost at all.
I don’t think that we need special medic class, but few things would be really nice to have:
-option to heal injured, but not downed teammates - your bots already can heal you in such situation, so why not allow players to do the same
-UI marker above injured players in your proximity that would benefit from healing
-reward for that should be much, much higher (support roles and overall teamwork should be as much rewarding as possible, because right now most of the players care purely about kills)
Something similar should be introduced for vehicles too (UI marker over tank in need of repair, big reward for doing that).
Medic ask the question of “How?” => Humain will not heal AI if they are as useless as at this moment.
And healing another humain is a nonsens, they switch instantly to another squad member if they are down. You will always heal a bot.
But would you heal a bot? You didn’t even know it was already possible to heal other people.
So only bots will heal bots.
But it also ask the question of “Why?” => AI is expendable so what is the point for the moment?
I like this idea of the Medic but I can not be viable if the bot are as useless as today.
It is utopic since the AI that is more A than I.
This is feb 2022 AI:
First dev should work on the AI. I don’t want a Cyberpunk 2 at the realease while all the AAA at the moment got shitty AI.
