Favorite Armed Halftrack Variant?

It’s a really hard decision for me, but I think I gotta go with the classic. The M3 GMC

M3A1 Halftrack

Ah the turret ring in the passenger seat. Very nice

Good excuse to say that I don’t think armed half tracks should be APCs, they should be regular vehicle slots. Most of these vehicles weren’t used to ferry infantry since they had to fit a whole weapon system and ammunition and the crew. I think the Stummel APC should be changed into a regular vehicle slot

Obviously the basic ones armed with MGs are fine as APCs since that is their job

I don’t think anyone is suggesting the M3 GMC is an APC!!

Oh I’ve seen the posts. The 251 TD as well

If we don’t make it clear the devs will just add them haphazardly. That’s why I think they should change the 251 Stummel, then move forward

Think he means like the current German preemie one

APC /= IFV
We definitely need some fun IFV’s though

defintly not a vehicle slot

Firstly no one would use some underpowered vehicles for something if we take the german apc for example wich is BR III you get Pz IV J at this BR. an long 75 and 2 MG than a casemate short 75 with 10 rounds before oveheat mg

Secondly they aren’t as durable as tank praticly "no armor " but they can compense a little bit in firepower if our allied got some brain problem taking some Pz II C or Stuart and other in higher BR

i’m pro to keep having some armed apc since their fragile and most of the time we use rarely the gun just in case of self defense sometime

an sdkfz 251/22 at BR IV OR V would be pretty good not an overpowered AT capability, can hit some inf with HE but just that, could be easily destroy with faust and plane anyways nothing op

But that is the crux of the issue. An armed halftrack is basically no different than a light tank. We could go down the road of saying that light tanks shouldn’t be vehicle slots since they’re weak compared to everything else. Or if a halftrack and a tank share the same weapon. Why would the 234/4 be a “tank” and the 251/22 an APC even though both use the same gun and have basically the same armor and neither transport infantry

The point is in my view they’re just another vehicle so they should all be the (combat) vehicle slot. Maybe sometimes I feel like playing a halftrack, others a tank, and they both perform the same role

yeah i’m agree but 251/22 is more an apc platform that skdfz 234. we can also limit the ammo import if really the feel is needed. the 234 was more a tank destroyer like the hellcat in fact shooting then go back etc

that’s why we don’t have light tank after BR II only M24 is III if i’m not mistaken

Technically yes, but armed APCs weren’t used to carry infantry. They were support vehicles (like every other support vehicle). You can’t even fit infantry since you have a whole weapon system and it’s crew

You’re certainly not going to have troops jumping out of this

You are right. But this is enlisted, we don’t do logic here.
