For me the M3 has just too low of a RoF too thats why i sticked to the Sten, for me the Sten seem to outgun any Axis SMG except for that Type 2a on Japan. But I will swap to the Thompsons once it is available. Maybe even use that BP golden ticket to get the BR2 one.
For the M1 and the Lee-Enfield n4 its a hard one … Generally the M1 feels weaker, but feels like a better match when its paired with Assaulters with SMG. But it kind of makes no sense why the M1 has less dmg than the Volkssturm Rifle.

I dont plan to go to BR IV and V at all … played enough WT to know that Gajin just cant balance top BR at all. So i would instead work on getting a decent BR II or BR III lineup for every nation starting with Germany and Allies.
Btw can i gear up the cool event units with lower BR gear too, or they must use what they come with ?
The MP40 is equal to the Sten. Both solid guns.
My personal favorite is - after some training - the Beretta 1918. Devilish pasta terror hose! Lots of fun fun fun, specially against USSR because you can beat them with their own pps/ppsh tactics.
BR2 is fine, BR3 is a high chance to face BR5. Its really hard then. I personally have most fun in BR2.
Good question, my event troops are unable to do so, so I have to chose my BR2 event units (thank god I have them). Italian BR2 paras and german BR2 special unit with silenced MP40s are dope!
My other event units have to stay at their respektive BRs. Maybe the option to change their weapons will come?
Oh okay so BR 3 is not safe from BR 5, thats a bit sad but good to know. Many of the coolest things seem to be on BR 3.
Hm… than that BR 4 BR 5 squads from the event will be not much use for me i think … but getting the event done is like 4 game every 2 day whih just comes natural. Is there a way to get older event squads or nope. I have seen those golden tickets for some fancy weapon but nothing for squads sofar.
I guess you have to be lucky, maybe the developers bring some event units back (Veteran Box, etc.).
New BR2 units will surely come soon or later, just wait.
In your case I would stay in BR2 and grind some BR3/4 weapons. Wait until you have enough of them and are strong enough for higher BRs. Stay in BR2 until you really are ready. BR4/5 can be fun too, but you often will face high end veterans with lots of experience so those battles will be a sweatfest. Sure those veterans can appear in lower BRs too (like me, I play since ~3 years or so and love low BR) but lower BRs are often more chilled.
Ofc you can go bonkers too with some weapons (pump guns, Beretta 1918) in low BR, but it is more rare compared to top BR.
Just make a decent BR2 and high BR setup and enjoy both as you wish.
Side note: It is fun as hell to go back to the roots and fight with some bolt actions again.
Yeah exactly thats why i prefer to stay around BR 1-3, the bolt actions, and the very short ranged SMGs which give a unique flavour to the game, guess once the Assault rifles apear in the lineups it will be the usual full auto AR gameplay.
Also i have a feeling that low BRs are less harrased by pilots here too like in WT.
