I think there is something wrong with flight model, despite having a good climb rate when first starting off, immediately after spawning, if you even do a shallow dive and reduce throttle it is very very hard to pull up (despite stats indicating otherwise), the only solution I have found is to fly a circle around reduce speed to allowe to deploy combat flaps, get plane energy balanced, then use combat flaps (being very careful of over speed when flaps down - what is max on F1 btw?)
If combat flaps down between 300-400 then plane is ok, but if you put them up it seems to struggle with lift at higher speeds, anyone else.
I’m on console and experienced flyer, no issue with 109E for example.
Changing this to discussion, I actually in second thoughts think this is not a bug but design and reflects reality F1 had control stiffness at high speeds, I read alot of articles not just WT…
Thanks mate, well if there are more planes that may explain the kamikaze pilots, some may not be intentional. The Fi above flaps speed will fly like a brick, I’m trying to level up my pilot, but F1 can only fly between 3-400 with cflaps down, it is better but nothing like the 109E Prem or so I have been told the F2 version, with no bombs.
Hopefully devs fix, but I will just prevail I guess until they do, I want to rank up pilot…
yeah i have actually noticed. it seems to be closer to 400-370 in game sometimes with the F1. but that is the only plane i have noticed a slight differance in flap max speed with, so i would still say the WT wiki is pretty reliable for the most part. with the F1 (and pretty much all bf 109’s in general) around 400 TAS is a good rule of thumb
Then if flaps are up, you better not be trying to ground attack, or you have to really hope and usually I skim trees! Must look pretty good to people seeing my flying skills though lol
I have just read some WT reddit discussions, the F1 was much faster and much heavier and suffered from compression (no lift!) at top speeds, BUT according to what I read, it is after you reach 500kmh which is kind of true I guess, so EL is only modelling the same characteristics, the fact that in WT you are much higher and have bombs in EL so attack ground, maybe that plays to it’s weaknesses and it always gets compression.
I would still like the devs to look at it, as I think, there compression maybe (?) comes on a little early, because the page I read said it has a great climb speed, the stats also state this in EL, so how do you combat or avoid compression and have good climb rate?
idk if its already been mentioned but i said this in another thread. Sometimes you get locked in with the wind at high speed. Its like you get cramped in to an air pocket and its pressuring the plane and affect your steering. When you slow down you regain your steering. I see this as an mechanic simulating real life in a way and is pretty neat
The fact you spawn at 400, if you were a new player, that compression effect with make it very difficult to pull up and they would kamikaze…
The first thing I do is wide turn to reduce speed by wildly turning rudder and fly with Combat flaps on most the time, but when dogfighting I use loops not wide energy draining turns, most enemy give up trying to keep up with me, but my issue is not avoiding their shots, it is being able to see them at the top of the loop as on console freelook is not as easy and is ties into airelons…
From my experience Bf 108 in Moscow is useless. Even when i try high speed attacks on enemy planes like Il 2 or biplane to outrun them they are still able to snipe me with first turn. Also shooting wings of Il-2 do nothing.
