This has probably been addressed at one point, but I recently finished researching everything on my Allies tech tree. What happens with the excess research that keeps building since there is nothing to research now?

Nothing, it keeps it all stored and you can use it to research new stuff that they add.
At least it works like that for now until they place a 25k limit to storing RP then the rest will convert to silver at a rate of 1 Silver per 100 RP.

It sits there until something new comes out I think.
they abandoned that idea after community backlash.

All research points above 25 000 will be converted in ratio 100 to 1 silver.

Until I see the new system in place it is not abandoned, I do not trust DF anymore.

Currently I have 333k in research credit and still building.
The helpers specifically commented that the conversion ratio will at minimum change from current 1% (which was insulting). 5-10% id think is fairer, esp with loot boxes coming.
