Molotovs are reeeeally great against tanks - but you need to throw them right ontop of the motor.
If your motor gets destroyed by a molotov not only is the crew forced to get out to repair the motor, staying inside is risking a cook off.

I want old Baumers back so I can eradicate all enemies with it. 
To play the devils advocate, I have used exclusively explosion packs for the entire duration of this games life. There is no reason to use any other throwable. Explosion packs have more value than any other throwable. It’s a combination of the explosion pack being too good, and all other throwables being mediocre at best.
Hand grenades now do more and more reliable damage to troops than Expl packs do - I usually carry 1 hand grenade in addition to explosive pack or packs.
