Even the best bolt action has no reason to be higher than BR 3 in the new system

having 10 Tiers of BR seems odd enough, having bolt actions at Tier 6 is pretty nuts.

Yes the community loves rifles like the Mannlicher, but that doesn’t make it magically much much much better than other bolt actions.

The real effectiveness of a weapon should be based on two things:

-how fast and easy it is to kill players with it

-how fast and easy it is to wipe squads with it

if you look at something like a FG it would fall into the first category of weapons, because it is a one hit kill weapon that even if you miss some shots will super fast kill an opposing player, however its high recoil and fast rate of fire will make you miss many shots in fully automatic - Combined with a small magazine you have a player killer but not a squad wiper.

if you then look at for example the MKB you have the exact opposite, it does not kill in one shot and has rather low dps in general, so its not optimal in a direct player vs player fight unless at longer ranges.

however, its slow rate of fire and excellent accuracy combined with a bigger mag than the FGs turns it into a really good squad wiper.

Now compare what I have just said with bolt actions.
Yes bolt actions are one hit kill weapons and in the right hands a very powerful player vs player gun - if you hit you’ll be very powerful - yet this is the problem here, bolt actions unlike the select fire weapons do not forgive the shooter if you miss your shots.

This means bolt actions are only “potentially” good player vs player weapons.

When it comes to squad wipes tho, they simply suck.

Usually you only have about 5 rounds before having to reload, of which unless you are a very good player you’ll miss a couple.

So… whats my point here?

my point is that this counts for every single bolt action in the game.
the real difference between them all is basically this:

-how forgiving it is when you miss your shots ( having a faster rate of fire means you’ll get extra chances to kill your target)

-how big the magazine capacity ( more rounds = bigger squad wipe potential )

-how fast the reload speed ( faster reload = faster squad wipes )

combine all this information and compare weapons stats you’ll find out that basically 90% of bolt actions perform the same way.

I think 4 for the faster-firing bolt action rifles and 5 for the 10 round capacity bolt action rifles would be appropriate. Or drop those both down to three and four.

Though I also think the crappy semi-auto rifles like the Armaguerra and M1 Carbine should be below the 10-round bolt action rifles. I think a lot of the 5-6-7-8 items could stand to then also be dragged down a tier.

just some examples here:

VG.2:
-very bad rate of fire
-rather mediocre reload speed
-big magazine that reloads in one go

Mannlicher short:
-very good rate of fire
-decent reload speed
-small magazine

Mannlicher long ( Stalingrad )
-decent rate of fire
-great reload speed (bugged reload always reloads with a stripper clip)
-small magazine

Kar98k
-mediocre rate of fire
-decent reload speed
-small magazine

pre war K98k
-nice rate of fire
-nice reload speed
-small magazine

Bolt action speed perk would bump those low rate of fire rifles back up.

true, but sadly picking the bolt action perk usually makes you not have enough point to also pick the faster reload perk.
