edit: BTW its a FOXHOLE made with a shovel not a fighting hole which would take hours to make. It would only be useful for hiding from artillery and shallow enough that laying down flat would hide you from the horizon

At first I was sceptical about that idea when it first showed up.
But now, after devs confirmed that Enlisted engine is capable of handling terrain deformations - this is big +1 from me.

right exactly. The terrain is deformable

Just allow us to use a shovel for 20 seconds to create a prefab foxhole you can hop into that will protect you from all artillery unless a shell lands inside.

You want to make it as a hole you just jump into or you have to interact with it to get inside (similarly to vehicles)?

thing is it could be abused to fuck up the terrain for tanks, but an interesting idea

the holes would be very very shallow the tanks suspension could handle it

I would agree with the idea if hiding in is not going to require its own animation and interaction.

Also some limitation should be placed on where it is possible to dig.

Personally I’m not sure which solution is better (less bad).
No interaction is faster but it requires you to be somewhat precise to fall in the hole and you may be not fully covered because there is one tiny pixel that’s visible outside because you are 1mm too much to the right.
On the other hand interaction requires you to stay fully exposed for those 2-3 seconds.

Also what about shooting from the foxhole? It’s possible that it would become a little bunker.

Also trying to climb from foxhole would be negatively affected by interaction option.

I think we already have simple solution in the game. Sometimes when you aim at certain angle against the wall, you automaticaly lower your weapon and you are unable to shoot. Only thing that would be needed is to make foxhole an area that would automaticaly cause to lower your weapon while you are hidden in it… Problem solved, no little foxbunkers.

I never had such situation. I was unable to ADS but nothing more.
Could you send video or picture?

Will try when that happens again, but it is very inconsistent.

Edit: After I did some hugging around the practice mode trench, i made it work @33349666. However, I can´t give you a video evidence, just two consecutive screenshots (enriched by my sick drawing skills). All you need to do is to get close enough to the trench (pretty much hug it), and it should automaticaly hide weapon on certain angle. During the “lowered weapon mode” I was unable to shoot.

It is still pretty inconsistent on which weapon hides against which part of the wall and should be polished. But that mechanic is 100% in the game already.

why fix a broken feature by creating an entirely new feature?.
Increase CD to 1 minute on arty squads or
make them have 3 diffrent types of artys with their own individual cooldowns but longer at that.
Arty strike : 3min
Mortar bombardment : 2min
Strafe run : 3min
or something like that.

A smoke arty would be really usefull too on invasion.
