Enlisted has lost more than its gained (Merge Update)

It goes without saying this update has been a Rollercoaster. Alot of people including myself are not happy for various reasons. This isn’t the direction I would have liked the game to go and from what I’ve seen in the last two days I am not alone. However today I got home and thought I’d play a bit more and give things another shot after last night but honestly this update seems like 1 step forward and 2 steps back and the for every issue that was addressed two more appeared. The game has unfortunately lost alot of the characteristics that made it appealing and now I fear will no longer stand out in any way compared to old games available.

The new tier system here is by far the biggest culprit to all the problems that have surfaced. The very inclusion of this new system has destroyed alot of what made Enlisted fun and unique. Prior to the merge I could pick my campaigns my squads, weapons, vehicles and I there was a great diversity of ways I could approach building my lil army. Most of my campaigns I brought a large selection of equipment some high level competitive stuff, some low level stuff just for fun. That’s gone now because everything is now tier based alot of equipment and unlocks are made completely redundant and now useless. The example I’ve used a couple times now is my Panzer IV H from previous Normandy Campaign. I ran that vehicle prior to the merge in tandum with my Tiger E but as of the merge there’s no point to running that vehicle anymore. In fact I’m just putting myself at a disadvantage when I could bring something far more viable for the games I’m going to be placed in at Tier 4&5. This goes for practically all items Tiers 1 and 4 which are essentially “Stop Gaps” between the better equipment at Tiers 2 and 5 respectively.

How does this differ from what we had before? Prior to the merge there wasn’t any form of dictation of what kind of game you got put into and that was part of what made Enlisted an enjoyable game to play. Sometimes you’d get matched up in a lobby with other high level players and it would be a more competitive experience. Sometimes it would be lower level players and a more chill experience where you have to go try hard or anything. This is what made bringing a variety of different squads fun! It didn’t all have to be top tier assault squads and top tier tanks. With this new system that brings everyone from all campaigns together you’re forcing players into a mosh pit of repetitive lobbies. Tier 5 is the best example the ranking encourages players to take the best unlocks possible into battle and so you run into lobbies of full autos, King Tigers, suicidal rocket barrage raging planes in an all out sweat fest. On the flip side of that coin you have Tier 2 lobbies where you run into green as grass players who don’t have their bearings yet and get dominanted by the small group of experienced players running T2 or T3 presets. Every game of Tier 2 I’ve played so far has felt like I’m seal clubbing new players.
Why is this the only option Enlisted had? Why does it need to be one extreme or the other? I really don’t understand how we got to this point. Tier 3 is another perfect example of this you either get steam rolled by T5 or completely curb stomp T1&2.

In the old version of the game it’s not like this never happened. I’m well aware it did, there was power shifts and meta shifts constantly but it was never intentionally by design. Before as players moved around campaigns the meta often time switched up with it.

Another point I’ve mentioned a couple times in other threads that I’ll bring up again is the lack of console involvement in the testing process. I play on an Xbox Series X (crossplay on if that’s relevant) with no access to a PC. I could not participate in any of the development for the merge. All I could do is sit by and wait for change hoping it’s something I’d like. Now that it’s here the longer I let it set in the more frustrating it gets because I would have been vocal about the changes prior to the update.

Realistically the only solution I’d personally like to see is a revert to the “Old” Enlisted. This is something not everyone will agree on but that’s personally what I want to see. I’m fairly certain that the dev team is commited to New Enlisted but I think at the very least it needed(needs) more testing and better fine tuning

All of that aside I really don’t know how much I will be on this game in the future I’m probably gonna wait and see how things develop and then give it another go

Sorry for the wall of text guys I really do love this game and just didn’t like the ways things have gone

Careful there buddy, you’re gonna summon the merge apologists if you start making too much sense.

They turned fun game into unfun one with new garbage matchmaking. BR1 and BR4 are now completely worthless as tiers, BR2 and BR5 are pretty playable (except Axis at BR2-3 they are way too weak), and BR3 is just a gamble and desertion spam till you get downtiered. We need BR +1-1 or BR6 no other way to fix the MM and useless BR tiers. Plus buff low-mid Axis weapons already.

I don’t like this game anymore either. I used to play Enlisted (more) than War Thunder and World of Warship. Now I will play more War Thunder.
