Enhancing Player Experience in Enlisted through Battle Rating-Based Matchmaking Mechanism

Dear Enlisted Community and Developers,

I’m reaching out to discuss a critical aspect of the Enlisted gaming experience and to propose a specific revision to the matchmaking mechanism, particularly in the context of the game’s battle rating system.

Issues Faced Post-Update:

  1. Historical Inaccuracy: Some weapons are appearing in timelines where they shouldn’t, disrupting the game’s historical authenticity.
  2. Game Balance: German top-tier equipment seems to overpower equipment from other nations, leading to a lack of balance.
  3. Game Intensity: The reduction in AI numbers and increase in live players per match leads to a tense and exhausting gaming experience for players.
  4. Matchmaking and Map Selection: As a level 4 US army player primarily interested in the Pacific Theater, I find myself frequently matched to Normandy (about 90% of the time), with only a 10% chance of playing in the Pacific. This often results in me having to quit and rejoin games.

Proposed Revision to Matchmaking Mechanism:

My primary suggestion is to empower players with the ability to select their battle rating and preferred maps for matchmaking. This change would allow players more control over their gaming experience, aligning matches with their preferences and skill levels.

Furthermore, the game should include a check for equipment and squad compatibility based on the chosen battle rating and map. For instance, if a player opts for a Pacific Theater match at a battle rating of 4, but their equipment, such as a Thompson 100 in a paratrooper squad, does not fit this setting, the system should notify the player. Players would then need to adjust their equipment and squad to match the selected battle rating and map.

Benefits of the Proposed Changes:

  1. Enhanced Player Choice and Satisfaction: By allowing players to define their battle rating and map preferences, the game becomes more aligned with individual player choices, potentially reducing the frequency of players quitting and rejoining games due to unsatisfactory matchups.

  2. Balanced Game Dynamics: This revision can lead to a more equitable distribution of players across various maps and battle ratings. It could also allow for the incorporation of more AI soldiers, balancing the player-to-AI ratio, thereby moderating the game’s intensity and enhancing enjoyment.

  3. Historical Accuracy and Contextual Relevance: Implementing battle rating and map-specific equipment checks would prevent anachronistic scenarios, thereby maintaining the game’s immersive and historically accurate environment.

  4. Reduction in Historical Inconsistencies: Restricting certain weapons and equipment according to the chosen battle rating and historical context of the map would prevent implausible scenarios, thus preserving the game’s historical integrity.

These suggested changes are intended to address current player concerns while enhancing the overall quality and enjoyment of Enlisted. Implementing a battle rating-based matchmaking system could significantly improve player engagement and satisfaction.

The BR5 is probably only BR where equipment is actually quite well balanced.
Instead of minor soviet bias KV at br3 capable to fight br2.
Or PF100 ( BR 4-5 ) as sovjet para equipment at br2.

The current br is passively selected according to the equipment level, rather than actively selected, which is essentially different. The choice of map is not based on player preference. The br5 imbalance I mentioned was mainly in the US camp and the German camp, where any US tank had little ability to penetrate the tigerII head-on. The Soviet camp is theoretically balanced, but it is also not balanced in terms of the overall win rate, of course, this can not be solved by simply changing the matching mechanism

This hardly is due to BR system, since it pretty much was like that already.

But, then again the plane spam is real in US side, due to better CAS ability,
Obviously new tanks will be added for murrica but just as much I expect to germuts get better CAS.

Well they arguably have already best equipment you can have.
Not much left to do except to add aim-assist or some other wheelchair assistance.

well the BR5 seems to have much more balanced games.
Had just 1 steamroll today, instead of all being steamrolls in previous system.

As well as que times are around between 15s-1min, instead of +2mins that berlin used to have.

BR3 is shit, il grant that
1-2 should never face anything else not even br3.

Both should be relatively easy to fix, just a matter of does this DF decide to do something about it or will they continue with this beretta 20mag vs ppsh loGikC decissions.
