Enhance the efficiency of the AI mortar gunner in the squad

Regardless of whether mortars prove to be effective in the game, there’s a current limitation when a player use a mortar squad or a paratrooper with a mortar setup. Despite being equipped with two mortars, players can only manually operate one mortar at a time, leaving the other mortar operator entirely idle.
If the AI of the second mortar operator could be fire based on the coordinates that the player is targeting, it would significantly boost the mortar squad’s suppression capabilities and ammunition expenditure rate. This enhancement would free up more time for players to engage in other tasks or manage different squads, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of their gameplay.

I think there should be a separate entire Major Update related to the AI.
Something called like “Supreme control” or “Advanced team”.

We need so many roles to be operable by AI: tank/apc crew, mortar, engineer, sniper(as scout), medics.

Also all AI troops need to know how to:

  1. Really get cover from enemy fire + spread them across the area (to avoid squad wipe from AoE)
  2. Place mines/medpacks
  3. Attack from different sides/angles
  4. Use AA/AT guns + LMG/HMG
  5. React for brushes as for visual barrier

I’m sure I forget to mention something…

Plus, they still hadn’t implemented a proper(aka advanced) tutorial for HUMAN players…
Due to this, I guess, if it will be implemented some day - it would take like 4+ years to implement those AI things, so just chill and use second mortar guys as additional 10-20 shells :slight_smile:

I know that AI currently has significant limitations and developing multifunctionality requires time. However, allowing two mortars to fire simultaneously not only increases firepower density, but also consumes multiple ammunition boxes of engineers more quickly. If this can be achieved, it will be a huge improvement for the mortar squads. After all, in the recent update, AI commanders have learned how to use mortar squads.

Never seen any. Or maybe we talk about those 1 kill per 10 deaths mortar ppl those fight with rifles? XD

Mortars as-is are pretty OP in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing. Being able to essentially fire two mortars at a time would be ridiculous.

A big part of this game is strategically placing your squad (X on PC) so they don’t get killed while you’re engaging the enemy. With a mortar squad, you should almost always be far enough away from the action that you can safely hide your squad.

So in order to protect the idiots, the official has weakened most of the things that are effective against them.
