Suggestion Improved from: Add upgraded versions of structures specifically to the ENGINEER 2 squads, and add basic MG Nest to ENGINEER 1 squad
As I mentioned in the previous post, based on how well the implementation of heavy machine guns is accepted by the community and that these can be built by the engineers of the machine gun squad, I thought that this could be implemented in a similar way by other squads, for For example, it is known that the Germans (although it occurred in other nations as well) sometimes used breastworks to protect their snipers, the same for certain machine guns, my idea is to implement that in other infantry squads they can have their own “improvement”, For example, for snipers, a parapet to protect themselves, one for the basic infantry (without being the sandbags), etc. I attach photographs of examples used in the war

While as an engineer main, I like this idea, as overall balance is concerned its very on the edge. The shield for MG nests is a nice idea, but exactly HOW its implemented so as to not be absolutely OP.
Obviously, delivering a shot through the gap would still break the gun (or 2 if a small caliber like SMG is used). As far as shots to the shield, it would need higher caliber weapons to go through, but how high of caliber is the question. Obviously the smaller calibers of pistol and SMG wouldn’t. So here’s what I’m thinking:
- 7.62 is what a lot of the bolt actions use, and given how common bolt actions and rifles are, that seems like that wouldn’t be hard at all to get through.
- I’ve noticed a handful of weapons across the campaigns, some of which are gold order weapons (like the 10mm Berdan II in Moscow), which are 8mm and larger. I know historically the Germans used the 8mm Mauser bolt action here and there.
- Perhaps it would be a good way to encourage getting higher level bolt actions that are of a larger caliber? The current system really just incentivizes getting faster loading rifles, Semi-auto, auto, or GL variants. I think larger caliber (8mm+) would be beneficial for the shield concept and others.
- Otherwise, the shield on the MG seems rather strong.
As far as the sniper shield suggestion: While I understand where you are coming from, I’ve seen its implementation on BF1, and I gotta say that it would be gamebreaking in Enlisted. Snipers can be hard to kill as is, adding an additional shield would be terrible for balance. In addition, MG users could use this as well to turn any location into what is essentially an MG nest, which again breaks balance.
I understand what you mean, so as for the weapon destruction system, it could be implemented if you go with a shield that has a limited number of shots that it can withstand before falling, as for the shields instead of metal, they could be as the Soviets used, mostly wooden that with a couple of shots could be knocked down
