Engineer suggestions

I love the Engineer class, however I feel it’s limited, and I think it could be improved. The balance is wrong, for example there are many special and premium squads who have just 1 engineer, who can not only build a better variety of equipment than most legacy squads, they can build just as many structures. I mean they’re great to have in these squads, I don’t think that should change, however I feel Engineers are ‘slightly’ gimped in the current meta. I’d like to suggest a few changes if I may

  1. Show the ‘next’ HQ location when defending, this should be highlighted for the defender so we know where we should be preparing our defenses.

  2. Dedicated engineer squads now have the ability to build more structures than non engineer squads, I think a squad of engineers should be able to build 6 x what one engineer can build, barbed wire, tank traps, sandbags etc. (with a caveat to heavy firepower and ammo crates)

  3. I think the limit of large structures (anti air, anti tank, Machine gun) I think these are generally OK at their current levels, but I’d like engineers to be able to build 2 AA (as is now) 2 regular MG (currently 1) and 1 AT (no change), I feel dedicated AT squads to have the ability to build 2 AT guns (if they have 2 engineers).

  4. I’d like to see digging speed improved significantly for engineers so they can make game changing adjustments by altering the terrain. I do understand that digging a trench is not a 5 minute job, but I feel it needds to be balanced better with the pace of the game.

  5. I’d like Engineer squads ‘only’ to be able to detect mines AT and AP much more easily (by equipping a metal detector (you’d have to add this to an engineers kit) which you could use at normal walking pace - NOT run pace) I think this would add some balance to this mechanic. but would give the attacking team a counter for clearing an area for assualt.

  6. Mine bags (mines x 3), to carry more AP (anti personnel) mines or AT mines, or a mixture of both. (AP and AT available only to engineer).

  7. Please please please, and please again with sugar on top, fix the placing of building spawn points in dug holes, this is still very janky and attempting to build spawn points unsucessfully has cost me matches on a lot of occasions.

I’m not asking you to turn Elnlisted into Minecraft, but by giving us the tools to control the battlefield terrain a bit more I think it would add a really interesting dynamic. I think the Engineers restricted weapon pool helps balance this out. I get it it’s an odd gameplay mechanic as some people are doing the FPS thing and some people are in the background quietly making life difficult for the other team.

I also think this is a great idea because it allows people who have a bad connection and low ping rates to be able to play in a meaningful way and really make a difference.

The engineer if it could build more sandbag typs whould be great, and with more machinegun nest typ too

For the first time, I see a realistic request for a specific squad to make it more fun, not like the typical Germantard widows who spend their time suffering because “Germany is defenseless” or “I want a MKb 42 in BR II or for this to be for riflemen.”

The engineers are very neglected, and your requests sound quite good and realistic. It would even be interesting to have an engineer vehicle where you could replenish your grenades or explosives. It would be a good addition to your ideas, they look great, master.

No… engineers with time to prepare are already very strong at their job, no need to buff that. Also, pulling away players from defending the current point just to fortify the next one doesn’t sound like a good idea either…

No, building spam is enough as it is already, no need to increase it. Also, with what engineer points will you be building them with? I don’t know if 6 engineers are enough for x6 buildings limit…

You can already do this, just give your guys with shovels the melee speed perks, they’ll dig faster.

Sounds combersome, unhelpful and unnessesary, so no. Maybe if mines were more dangerous, more hidden and rarer this would become a valuable mechanic, but that’s not the case right now.

Personally, I don’t have a huge problem with it. If it’s time sensetive and you’re in a dangerous area, then just don’t start digging a hole out in the open. Digging down a rally point is you putting a bit more extra time and energy into the placement of your rally, it’s not the universally best solution, if you want something quick and dirty you just plop one down in a house, if you got more time you place it against some indestructable terrain and place one or two sandbags to block the rest, but the dug down rally constitutes the greatest investment of time for the greatest amount of protection.

Believe it or not, there is a guy on this forum who spends his time saying that.
