New Squad Engineer III with the ability to build stronger fortifications and better stationary guns :
Now engineer squads be able to build stronger anti air guns and stationary anti inf , tank guns to the battlefield beware tho because these fortifications will be so expensive to build that you wont be able to build anything else … (for balancing and spamming reasons)
I don’t really think we need a separate engineer 3 for this, we already have br system.
Locking it to engineer 3 will only give veteran player more advantage towards newer player.
Both of them are mediocre against heavier tank.
Maybe consider the Type 99 88 mm AA gun or the Type 4 75 mm AA gun.
I prefer pak43, bs3, and 17pdr, with no HE ammo to fulfill solely the at role. Otherwise, at campers will be unavoidable, the same as pak40 in low br but just worse. I don’t know how you could balance the cost of stronger at fortifications since you could always bring a 6-man engineer squad. Btw, at squad could also build at, so how to balance that.
Small to medium caliber aa will always be more effective because all planes are below 1000m, below 500m when approaching the battlefield. So I don’t see why we need deux-purpose cannons.
Also, I dread to think about the gun shield on Flak41. It will be so annoying to deal with. Just use the version without the gun shield.
I am partial to new AT guns. On one hand variety is nice, but on the other hand I feel that adding in new universal heavy AT guns would make the possibly of a unique heavy AT weapon built by AT squads redundant.
I have various ideas regarding AT guns. One is that all Engineers build a general purpose gun like a 57mm and AT get the heavy equipment
Personally I wish we wouldnt bother with engineer I II III and all that, especially since you have to grind the whole damn squad AGAIN (and its been mentioned how difficult it is to grind MG nest which is very ironic given its a big step down from the early unlock HMG)
Maybe just engineer IIs but later unlock?
But either way I like the idea that higher BRs gets better AT and AA guns. That’s just common sense.
I also appreciate you giving both an American and British option. Perhaps we could also get specific AT and AA guns, in that case Id suggest the 25 pounder and Bofors gun.
The options to make these not OP are good, though I dont think the entire squad should get killed. Maybe it takes say 4 people to operate and they will get killed or seriously wounded (but you couldnt just rebuild it after that)
One thing Ill say with your suggestions is I believe engineers should have a truck or halftrack (so act kind of like an APC squad), but these vehicles would be mobile supply trucks to replenish engineer resources. Perhaps theres only 1 or 2 times you can replenish those resources.
The thing about Engineer 3 is that you need something to research to unlock the squad.
I actually once thought about making an Engineer 3 suggestion before, but I was either too lazy or forgot to do it.
Anyways I propose AVT40, M2 Carbine, FG 42, and Type Hei automatic to be the item you research to unlock the Engineer 3.
You also need to make the perk numbers. I propose 20-20-16
And it’s likely that the engineer buildables you suggested wouldn’t be limited to the Engineer 3 squad, but be dependent on the BR that someone is playing. IIRC, they were making different AT guns (or AA guns I can’t remember) dependent on BR
