This is just something that was thought up as we were playing last night.
A buildable “Crate” of primary weapons. Each squad gets their own, and have restrictions according to the squad type (weapons found in their yellow tab of perks).
It would be unlocked through the blue tab of perks.
They are filled with weapons that the player chooses from their inventory/ storage.
Players that access weapons from the crate are only allowed one per squad. So you can’t outfit multiple members from the same squad.
So it would look something like this:
- Rifleman, RO, and Engineer squads get 4 rifles/ crate
- Assaulters get 3 weapons/ crate
- Snipers and MGs get 2 weapons/ crate
- AT squads get 1 weapon/ Crate
- Flamethrowers, mortars, tankers, and pilots don’t get these crates
Again, the weapons within the crates are the ones that you put in it. Including the quality of the item that you put in it.
This fortification is essentially a way to put down reliable weaponry that otherwise functions as if you had picked the weapon up off the ground. It would work to help keep troops supplied and teammates working together. Another could not be placed until the previous one was either empty or destroyed.
As far as points are concerned:
The player that built the weapon crate only receives 10 points for a weapon being picked up, but gets an assist for each kill performed with it.
Please note, this is only the start of this idea. I’ve not seen one quite like it before, but thought it might be something of interest.

It’s an interesting idea for sure. I guess this would primarily function as a way for high-level players to help out low-level players? I don’t entirely get what necessitates this idea, as weapons and ammo are not scarce.
Certain weapons are good for certain types of engagements. We all know this. It gives an opportunity for players to reliably pick up a weapon that is useful for that fight that they may not have in their current squad.
Last night, where this idea originated for us, there were a couple of times where specific squads were on cooldown, we were attacking and running low on tickets, so we were trying to make the most out of our lives. Pushing up to the objective, rifles were clearly the best option, but as we drew close to it, there were only a couple of scattered SMGs, MGs, and shotguns that made all the difference for fighting within the objective. Trying to find the right weapon on the floor amongst a pile of weapons is definitely not ideal.
It’s fine when you are in a pinch, but having a bit more advanced planning with an engineer to supply your guys would really benefit the game.
Think about it this way:
-
On offense you could push forward with rifles to adequately close the distance. Stop through an entrenched supply area to pick up a shotgun or a SMG, and push onto the point with it. Once inside, a teammate drops down a crate with a couple MGs. You don’t have to look around on the floor to find them. You are right back in the fight holding enemies off.
-
On defense, a teammate that thought it out ahead of time could drop down weapon crates in opportune areas. SMGs and Shotguns for in buildings, a crate of snipers in a sniper’s perch, a crate of MGs on a nice flank position, even a crate of decent rifles to help players that only have close range equipment on their squads.
It rewards players that play support and help keep their team ready for whatever fight that is coming their way.
