It seems like no matter how many structures you can build in a game, and how many teammates use your spawn points and such, this always leaves you near the bottom in XP for a match. This is one of the most important classes used to help achieve victory.

Visuals help support your position.
The truth is, you only can see the leaderboard score of other players in each match.
You have ZERO clue what each of their XP (base xp is what campaign xp is built upon).
You only see the leaderboard score, which is NOT directly linked to base xp earned.
Could be that a player has a low leaderboard score (which is meaningless except to calculate which player receives the “Best in the team” Battle hero award and multiplier…beyond that, the leaderboard is meaningless, but has earned quite a nice amount of base xp….which is hidden from other players.
Example number 1:
3264 leaderboard score, 6037 base XP earned
Example number 2:
Engineer making bank; 2630 Leaderboard score, 6418 base xp earned
Example number 3:
4935 Leaderboard score, 6555 base xp earned
It seems to me that a hard working engineer’s efforts might not show up on the leaderboard (which is basically meaningless) but it sure is reflected in the amount of base xp earned compared to the silly score on the leaderboard.
Ignore the leaderboard, pay attention to the full battle report.
Like bobby said SCORE is not same thing as EXP.
Things that give high score dont always give high exp.
Also while playing engineer nothing prevents killing opponents and being at first place at scoreboard while winning game thanks to spawnpoints. Thats alone 50% exp bonus
I think they should get xp every time someone uses their equipment or enemy gets caught in their barbed wire.
Should get score every time someone uses your spawn point.
You get 15 points score for each use of your rally point.
You get 5 points score for each use of your sangbags.
I do not know the amount of score for each use of your ammo crate, but surely you get some.
