Engineer class and comments

Engineer class is pretty useless nowadays. You don’t have enough time to build anything useful.

  1. Sandbags suck. They’re easily destroyed. Sandbags shouldn’t be that pathetic imo. There should be different variations of sandbag structures. The current sandbags don’t help much. It’s hard to build them properly on bumpy ground. We should be able to build them standing straight, despite the condition of the ground. For instance, let us use arrow keys to lower the sandbags enough to fill a gap or something of that nature.

  2. At guns are really bad. They take forever to build, and they’re also easily destroyed. They also have very bad range, because the ground will make them tilt. This will make the gun not point up or down far enough. I think the solution is to make them semi-mobile. In this case the ai’s hold onto the gun or stay close to the gun while the player is using the gun.

AT guns are also really weak in this game. For example, I shot a 75mm HE round by a guys foot, I got a hit marker, but he just walks like nothing happened. I bombard a house with 5 rounds get hit markers for each shot, and the guys sitting in there don’t die. Then a 2 inch mortar knocks me out. It doesn’t make sense.

AT guns should have proper damage models like tanks. At this point if they get hit with an HE or AP tank shell, they immediately set fire.

  1. Flak guns are pretty good. Their usefulness, mobility and versatility are pretty good.

  2. Barbed wires are really weak. They should be destructible only by engineer squads, allied soldiers or explosives. Grenades and charges seem to remove them, but I don’t believe this is realistic. Allies used bangalores/artillery to remove them, because explosives made the wires tangle even worst than before.

We should be allowed to stack two barbed wire groups on each other. What’s the point of barbed wires if they’re only 1 ft high? People just jump right over them.

Barbed wires should immobilize soldiers, not slow them down.

  1. There should be more ammunition for AT/AA guns, or they should be reloadable.

  2. Small mg nest is useless, because the mg gets knocked out easily. This mg should be belt fed and be re-mountable.

Conclusion: Since the games move so fast, we might as well make building faster, and allow more building supplies in terms of invasion/assault.

Comments

  1. I notice every gun has tracer rounds. For MG gunners, we should be allowed to select ammo type, such as tracer, non-tracer and more. For instance, sometimes I don’t like tracer rounds giving my position away, and sometimes they’re useful for letting the team know enemy positions.

  2. Trees should be destructible with explosives and heavy weapons. Currently it seems the only way to remove trees is by tanks running them over. Depending on the size of the tree, it’d be nice to be able to destroy them with the proper weaponry, because some trees can really get in the line of sight.

  3. I notice the maps are quite large and we usually utilize a small portion of the map for specific games. It’d be nice to have a mode where multiple companies engage on the entire map.

That’s all I can think of atm.

Engineers are the most important class there is… if only for the spawn point. At gun, aa guns… both can lock an alley, road corridor… And I’m not talking about the mg nest!

Engineers are BEST class in game and good engineers alone decides who wins game with rally points.

Also immobilising barbed wire that only tnt or engineers could dismantle… hmm sounds balansed

The value of most of the engineers constructs is indeed questionable. But rally points win games. Seriously. Just one well placed rally point can turn a losing match into a victory. I have one engineer in every squad and so should you.

As for your comment about trees and explosives: I’m pretty sure trees already fall from explosives but I don’t know how big they have to be.

A well placed MG42 or PAK can decide a match. The key is to find the best spot.

i want to ba able to chop down trees and move them to block roades and stuff

I haven’t have the time to build up a proper sandbag position…

It is, because its easy to destroy with explosives. Imagine you spend 5 minutes to build a wall of wires, then a charge blows it all up in a second. Plus engineers barely have time to build things.

Block entrances to cap, block paths the enemy tanks are most likely to take, provide ammo (especially for mortar), etc. A well placed (actually any) rally point is indeed extremely valuable. Engineer is vital to winning and XP.
