Engineer 1s get buildable MGs and Engineer 2s get new MGs

as of now,MG emplacements are kind of weak. It’s kinda stupid that Engineer 1s can’t build MGs while 2s can for some reason, especially when HMGs are just plain better and you can get them on MG1 squads. This would be nice for the people who want to use a few engineer squads with MGs but don’t have the legacy squads to do it,and would give some new unique MGs for engineers.Below would be the redistributed MGs and a few new possible ones.

Engineer 1

European Axis

MG34

the same one we have in game

Fiat-Revelli Modello 1935
an Italian gun in 8mm based on the Modello 1914,a version of the Maxim with a rate of fire of 600 RPM

Western Allies

M1919

the same one we have in game

Vickers Machine Gun
a British machine gun design with a very long operational history, debuting in WW1 and still seeing some use in the Syrian civil war.this gun has a rate of fire of 500 RPM

USSR

Maxim

the same one we have in game

Japan

Type 92

the same one we have in game

Engineer 2

European Axis

MG42

the one used as a map prop, this used to be able to be built but was replaced by the MG34,could be nice to see it make a comeback as an engineer buildable.

Western Allies

Mounted vickers K

A mounted version of the BR5 LMG we have currently.has a rate of fire of 950 RPM (it has an adjustable ROF,but if we keep it at the lower number it would be closer to the other MGs being suggested)

USSR

SG 43
The successor to the maxim, this improved on it in almost every way,has a rate of fire of 700 RPM,but gets a shield since it has a lower ROF then competitors

Japan

7.7mm Type 89 fixed machine gun
the same gun used on the A5M4,this gun has a rate fire of 900 RPM

What about another aircraft M1919A4?

Great suggestions! I’m just get tired of seeing the same 131 MG in low and high BR when there could be plenty more options. It’s so rare to see engineer built MG-34 emplacements nowadays. Same with Brownings and Maxims.

One of the things I don’t miss from the old Enlisted is having to grind like 30+ levels in a campaign to unlock High tier Engineers, to then have to grind them out so they can build a MG nest.

To be honest, I would have preferred the germans to have the MG42 as a heavy machine gun. Today, when we say “heavy machine gun”, everyone think about a 50. cal or bigger, but during WW2, this term was very subjective, because, for example, the japanese classified the Type 92 as a heavy MG, but it was chambered in 7.7mm. The same could be said about the MG42 chambered in 7.92mm, or the Vickers for the british which was chambered in 303. and was considered as a heavy MG. Apart from the americans with the M2 and the soviets with the DShK, not many nations used large caliber MGs. The devs could have explored other options for lower caliber MGs classifed as HMGs, like a better precision with less spread for the MG42 or the Type 92, or a non-existent overheating for the Vickers (just like it was historically for this one), so that these MGs could compete with the larger calibers MGs like the M2 or DShK. I am not a big fan of the MG131 right now, because I have NEVER seen a single pic of the tripod it is using ingame right now, so this gun, in this configuration at least, is a complete fictional gun.

And even during WW2, the DShK was mainly used for an anti-air role, just like the Type 93 for the japanese, so you would probably not have seen these shooting at infantry, because the soviets mainly used the Maxim as a HMG, and the japanese used the Type 92 in this HMG role too.

I think you are talking about the AN/M2,but yeah I don’t want the ROFs to be too high, since overheat would be an absolute bitch over 1000 RPM,thats why I tried to find something below that threshold

Nice suggestions as always! I would like to see the Type 89 MG as a TT weapon at first though.

It’d be cool if the heating mechanic was improved to be decreased so it wouldnt’t overheat so quickly after firing for like 5 seconds. And instead it had a fixed amout of ammo, belt fed or magazine, depending on the MG, and a reload animation to go along with it. And water cooled MGs like the Maxim or others would have the advantage of even less chances of overheating, with the drawback of a slower fire rate. And after running out a couple belts or magazines it would need to be replenished by any engineer, similar like AA guns. So it wouldn’t be too overpowered. But maybe that’d be too complex for Enlisted’s standards…

No, why? Its silly.

japs could get an improved versiom of type 92 but for light one give them lewis

I don’t really think so. It could be a good alternative to the Type 100 MG in my opinion.

no it couldnt. mg42 was classified as either GPMG and further into LMG or MMG depending on its purpose.

here is quick definition from wiki(cause i was lazy)

There are two classes of weapons generally defined as HMGs:

  • The historical definition refers to machine guns, typically chambered in standard full-power cartridges, that are identified as being “heavy” due to their weight and cumbersomeness, which prevents infantrymen from transporting them on foot. Examples include the Maxim machine gun and M1917 Browning machine gun.
  • The modern definition refers to “heavy caliber” machine guns, pioneered by the German Empire’s MG 18 TuF which was a Maxim derivative chambered in 13.2×92mmSR fielded near the end of World War I. They are designed to provide increased effective range, penetration and stopping power against vehicles, aircraft and light fortifications beyond the full-power cartridges used in battle rifles and medium or general-purpose machine guns, and far beyond the intermediate cartridges used in assault rifles, light machine guns and squad automatic weapons. HMGs also have more felt recoil than its lighter counterparts. Popular HMG rounds today are the 12.7×99mm, 12.7×108mm and 14.5×114mm cartridges.

type 92 MG was considered heavy cause it had weight of 55kg with tripod.

Id rather get the Type 98 MG15 copy adapted for ground use.

I see. I would also like to see the Type 92 MG with the 97-round drum magazine as a potential unlock. But knowing the :snail: there are high chances that it might be a premium squad.
