Enemies should be marked automatically

Enemies should be marked automatically when you aim in on them with the soldier you are playing,
Planes especially need this info as you are mostly flying blind.
Would be nice to hear the soldier taunt also, “enemy spotted” etc.

No…

Almost no one marks enemies in marks, in real conflicts you have steady radio information goin’ back n’ forth. Can’t expect everyone to mark the enemies themself all the time.

I mark all the time, there is an option in quick chat to request people mark too.

I feel like it would too easily give away your position if you’re trying to be sneaky. For example, if you are playing sniper and you shoot a player’s squad member, then that player tries to find you. Boom, they mark you from far away without a scope and without even actually seeing you. They get lucky just from looking in your direction. That happens in BF all the time. Don’t know where you were shot from? Just scan the general area. (In BF I’d just click rapidly until I found the sniper shooting at me when they were concealed.)

That’s just one example, but I can see a lot of problems arising from marking automatically. The real issue is that not enough people mark like they should, especially since it helps the ai know where to look, so I agree with you on that. I might actually support the ai automatically marking an enemy that they have just fired at, because that would actually make sense as far as a little realism goes, but only from medium and close range.

More voice lines from the squad based on your (or their) actions would be cool.

Should just have the right parameters and -only be the soldier you are currently playing-, aim on a player for 2 sec for it to mark it, so weird stuff like that doesn’t happen. the ai marking enemies would be a bad deal.

You can keybind the marker (v) to your fire button on your mouse.
Everytime you shoot it marks the enemies.

Oddly enough this helps your bot squad and they will even fire and help you

I just think it’s better if the marking was done with intention, rather than automatic. People definitely need to mark more as it’s essential to winning a match, especially when it comes to helping tanks and planes. There are also times when I want the ai to move as quickly as possible through an area, so automatically marking enemies and distracting my squad would be annoying. (Like standing in the open and starting a firefight, getting marked by the enemy when I’m trying to lead them to cover.)

I definitely see where you’re coming from, but we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

Have a good day friend

One thing I dislike about people, who just mark any old enemy, possibly for their bots to shoot at, is when I’m flying a plane.
I’m thinking they’re marking strong enemy positions for me to bomb, but by the time I drop my bombs, there’s nothing left.
We really need more kinds of markers for different purposes.

That would be a good idea with more marker options, could show if enemy is inside building atleast, would solve plane bombing in vain most of the time.

Im going to test putting my ping button on the same button as my shoot button. Lets see how that goes lol

It would be cool if markers could automatically change depending on the amount of enemies near it, or even on certain squad types, snipers especially. I just wouldn’t want to have to take the time to cycle through different markers or something. For now, I’ll put down one mark if enemies are indoors or if I only see a few. If I see a large mass of enemies or an enemy rally I’ll put down 3 marks to cover the whole area and hope my team notices and either arties or bombs them. So if you’re ever in a game with me and you see 3 marks pop up close together, bomb the shit out of that area.

Love your name and profile pic btw

That would be quite cheaty, though. You could be seeing a single enemy somewhere, mark him, and then the game outright tells you, that there are more enemies close to that mark.

Neither would I. That would be a necessary solution for console gamers, but hopefully PC gamers would be able to bind markers directly to different keys.

That seems like a good practice to me. I hope it’ll catch on.

Thx

No no no no.

It’s already something that the game allows marking positions, no need to make it automatic.

Sometimes it’s obvious where the enemy is, no need to get the screen spammed with markers because 5 players are aiming at 15 players/bots

Markers are just a help, it shouldn’t be the core mecanism of fighting the enemy.

As annoying as it is, it’s up to the players to make an effort

You are 100% right, didn’t even think about that.

The new vehicle (tank) marking system was an idiot idea, tha marking follows the tank? WTF its a laser targeting system in WW 2 or what?..I think it’s not Battlefield, that vehicles constantly mark till 15 sec…it was more realistic before update…now the tankers have less chance to hide…

“Johnson! Quick! bring me the Radio!”

“okay lets see, HQ? HQ? Can you hear us? Good… listen ! There is an enemy rifleman up that hill, at the very tree I am looking at”
“What do you mean which tree?” Dont you see the magic symbol on your minimap? Im pressing on the “spotting button” ffs!"

-Spotting mechanics are already pure arcade mode, what you want would literally remove any need to have map awareness what so ever!

I think it’s a good simulation-ish way of acting like the spotter tells HQ whether the tank is moving or not and in which direction.

Hey OP, no. Just no.

Follow the tank marks, the other marks aren’t necessarily for you.
